If it goes away once you are in drive, off the brake and moving, then it's the clutch packs. They open up at idle, no accel, just like twin plate clutches, they chatter.

that's what it sounds like to me too. installing hard intercooler pipes amplifies any engine noise.

 

this is 100% normal. It is the transmission, it is ALWAYS partially engaged and it makes annoying sounds like that. Nothing to worry about.

 

i just watched my video and im not sure if anyone is hearing the sound that im specifically referring to lol, it sort of sounds like a rubber ball being shaken twice inside a soda can or something. its not consistent but its just like knock knock... knock... knock knock knock. and it is still there when in drive but its very faint. U can hear it the best at 26-29sec of the video, try to listen for the sound in the backround- it sounds like something is hooking and unhooking. Maybe u guys are right and it is the transmission but another sound i notice when driving is if i put my car is 6th gear as soon as it will let me and give like half throttle i hear a loud rattle under my car like 5000 times until higher rpm. it may be just the undertray vibrating cause the car is bogging but idk.

I wish it was still up ... maybe I should post one up of mine. It's seems to be the most apparent when you shut the car off and the engine comes to a stop. It's VERY apparent to me and annoys the hell out of me! ... Been making it since not long after I've rolled the thing off the lot.

 

I have the same ticking sound and I have had 2 lancers brand new when I bought them. It is normal so dont worry.

 

It's not a ticking sound it's a knocking sound. And the best way I can describe it is more of a Wobble Knock. Definitely not an engine knock more so something like the transmission but I'm unable to locate it ... you can just hear it ... inconsistently ...
