Power Steering / Generator belt

Anybody replace this belt yet? I'm getting ready to do mine, and wanted to know if there are any issues I need to prepare for, or if it really needs to be changed at 30,000 miles at all.

Any insight you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I would be interested in this also, as my 30,000 is coming up in ~3 months. It should be pretty straight forward but I haven't even looked at it to see what's involved.

honestly there's no need to change it at 30k if its still in good condition and not making noise

look at the ribbed part of the belt for any cracks or other anormalities, look at the smooth side for discoloration, and make sure its not starting to come apart...

there's no set replacement schedule for the serp belt, it only needs to be replaced when you notice any of the above conditions...

if you want to replace it , its really simple and should only take a few mins

I'm not refering to the serpentine belt, I'm referring to the v-belt, which the manual does refer to as needing to be replaced at 30,000 miles.

Serpentine belts last well over 100,000 miles these days. I doubt I will ever need to replace it.

our cars have 1 auto tensioned serp/drive belt...v belts are manually tensioned.
this link tells you exactly how to inspect for belt stretch and replacement

DRIVE BELT (FOR THE GENERATOR AND POWER STEERING OIL PUMP) (REPLACE)

1. Remove the radiator condenser tank mounting bolts.
2. Move the radiator condenser tank to a place where it will not be a hindrance when checking the drive belt tension.

CAUTION
Check the drive belt tension after turning the crankshaft clockwise one turn or more.

3. Make sure that the indicator mark on the auto-tensioner is within the area marked with A in the illustration.
4. If the mark is out of the area A, replace the drive belt.

5. Tighten the radiator condenser tank mounting bolts to the specified torque.

and while after reviewing the schedule it does say to replace it at 30k, i personally dont find it necessary until it starts showing the signs i posted earlier
