what would happen if i lowered my boost to zero

I recently lower it from 25 to 16psi and saw the mpg go from 18 city mpg to 28 mpg, I'm thinking of dropping it to 9psi or even zero, would this effect the vehicle anyway?obviously i be less HP that that's agiven if i could possibly reach 30 mpg

I have always wondered if we can "shut down" the turbo when we want it =P... i wonder if thats the samething as staying out of boost all the time...

Ok well when i wake up ill try it on 0 for alil while and report back... something tells me its not gonna stay at completly 0... but hopefully it does work... I tried staying out of boost (staying in hight numbersof vaccum) but noticed if I hit lower vaccum numbers it was giving me almost the same mpg as if I were in lower boost, like 1-5psi

If it helps, as part of some tuning/experimenting, I set my BaseWGDC table to all zeroes. I was checking wideband AFR readings in the "middle" of the map

When driven WOT, that gave me about 9.5psi - with AMS Boost Pill installed.

I was thinking of repeating the "all zero" thing with the stock pill - see what that gives me at WOT.

Rich

PS. 9.5psi is very boring.

This is exactly what I wanted for a long time and its possible to even change maps on the fly with tephramod. I dont think mpgs are interesting for most guys here though lol.
Ralliart is a better DD then the Evo X so I would assume it would be more interesting but meh, I dunno.

You won't get less than wastegate spring pressure which I would have thought would be 11psi sounds like your actuator may be lacking some preload. Only other option would be to hang the wastegate flapper open... that would limit the boost as much as possible.. probably still see a psi or two.....

I think our stock wastegate is only about 7 psi. I could be wrong...

With all-zero BWGDC table, the boost reading touched 10.6psi around 3000rpm. It then settled back to 10psi, and tracked ever-so-slightly lower from there... 9.6psi at 5000rpm.

I can't tell you what it did after that - I fell asleep!

Nerfing the BWGDC table is a fairly handy trick for tuning certain areas of the fuel map, but for "driving economy", you can surely do what you need to by keeping the ol' throttle foot under tight control. Assuming that's even possible...

If its possible to change where the boost kicks in that would be even better
