What would you do next?

Please look at my mods in my sig. Would you go with an X BOV or X FMIC next? Or do you have another suggestion for me?

Thanks

Between those two options, the FMIC would be my first choice.

X FMIC, or an Ultimate racing IC. Other thing i would consider is the hot side charge pipe.

I saw ZERO change in boost response or holding when switching to the X bov... I'm not trying to run stupid boost on the stock hair dryer though...

For budget:

OEM Evo X FMIC
OEM Evo X LICP
OEM Evo X UICP

Question about the evox BOV.

1. Would it make any difference putting in this BOV vs the ralliart one thats there?

2. Does the metal evox sound better than the oem ralliart BOV?

Thanks for the responses. It looks like I will look for an intercooler and piping first. Should I be wary of anything looking at the used x fmic's? Just try to find a low mileage one and go from there?

ArtofRalli as far as I know the metal BOV of the X is supposed to hold higher boost levels. It is more for a peace if mind for me. I am not at huge levels right now but some say anything over stock levels the leaky plastic valve can have issues. Not sure if it sounds any different. I would think it sounds too much different but I'm not sure.

Any benefits to going with an aftermarket fmic if I plan on keeping the little turbo for a few more years? Ultimate goal is all bolt one and tune some day. Then later on bigger turbo.

MadSB can you explain what the hot side charge pipe is? Sorry if that's a silly question.

Shiny silver one with blue coupler is the hot charge pipe. Also, be cautious of buying a used Evo FMIC. Make sure the fins are in good condition. I've seen people buy them with 10k miles and the FMIC looked horrible with smashed fins and all.

Make sure yours doesn't look as bad as the one on the right.

Thanks for the picture reference of the hot charge pipe. And the good vs bad looking fmic.

think of it this way

the air flows from UICP, FMIC, LICP

before it enters the intercooler, it's hot. afterwards, it's cold (or the same if you're still on OEM )

hope that helps confusion

as for what mods, if you don't plan to upgrade the turbo anytime soon, just save imo. trying to extract the most out of the dinky stock turbo is pointless and will end up costing about as much as a used X turbo swap in the end

and why haven't you done the whole intercooler system? the stock one doesn't really work. it's not a mod, I'd call it a requirement for any RA owner. if you're on a budget - like Bryan said, a whole Evo X set can be had for pretty cheap

X bov isn't bad to possibly grab back 1-3psi from the cheap plastic one, but don't expect huge gains - though thankfully they can be found for cheap so, meh, why not

I guess the main reason I haven't done the x fmic and pipes is I was kind if dreading the install. I didn't know how easy or hard it would be. I have removed the bumper by myself to plasti dip the ring and lower lip. I also installed the cat back by myself. I just didn't know if figment is much an issue or not.

Now you'd guys have me thinking I really need to get that done.

I'd say it's easier than installing a cat-back

there are so many used X intercoolers and piping for sale lately for good prices I wish I could do it all over again. don't dread the install, it's definitely easy, especially if you've already removed the bumper - that's the hardest part

Ok so if your planning on raising your boost level in the near future then i would say BOV but the FMIC and IC piping is probaly your best bet as of right now with your current mods. Also I saw somebodies comment saying get a TBE. If your ever planning on upgrading your turbo, dont waste your money on a full TBE. just stick with a cat-back maybe add a test pipe. the downpipe will be different for a upgraded turbo and stock ralliart turbo. Im not bashing their comment but I made that mistake on my ralli...If you do, just sell the downpipe like i did good luck on your build!!
