2011 Ralliart Transmission Problem

hey guys! I'm kinda new here, so I'll start off with the basic intro.

Name's Mike, or you can call me TK for easy.

Just got my new '11 Ralliart White, and I'm loving it...but here's a problem.

No modifications, got the car like 3 days ago.

It just barely hit the 200km mark of the odometer, and about 30 mins ago, it had "Transmission Service Required" and the gears only change from 1-3-5, skipping 2 and 4...and i have no clue why...it was on auto, no paddle-shiftings, or anything like that.

I'll be bringing the car to the dealership tomorrow, but..did anyone have any issues with the gear change? I also noticed that even at running 70km/h it's on 6th gear..or is that normal?

Thanks,

- TK

Recap: Ralliart is stock, no mods. TC-SST Auto. Normal and Tarmac mode.

I would demand the dealer to give you a new car instead of having them fixing a problem like that....

Thats a shame... theyll probably swap the tranny for a new one. I agree with ^^ since u barely put any miles they may give u another car. i believe the contract states within 1 week u can bring it back.

Yes, it's normal for our cars, but I don't think it's a good thing. You should be shifting the car yourself manually for best results.

my SST went out at 500 miles also and it 2011 model year , the dealer act like this was normal and seen many go out with very little miles on them , just be glad it under warranty as that transmission cost as much as some complete brand new car sold out there today.

My '11 has 2,000kms/1,300miles on it and when in manual + sport mode it will automatically shift me from 2nd to 3rd at like 20kms then to fourth gear by 40kms.

That's a problem, I would take that into the dealership ASAP to get it looked at. The car should never automatically "upshift" when in "manual" mode, but it always automatically downshifts.

It will after first start of the day when cold as a safety feature.

Sounds like a lemon, get the dealership to give you a new car.

Yes, this is at like 7:00am on my way to work. But it's not even very cold, maybe 45-50 degress out. I'm wondering what it will be like in a few months when it's -30+ for months on end.

I initially was concerned when I noticed my car upshift while in Manual mode months ago. After thinking it through, I attributed it to the underestimated logic of the TCU.

Page 3-117 of the Owner's Manual:
Twin Clutch SST control mode
NOTE
- If you select "Sport" mode while the engine is cold, the transmission may shift up at different speeds compared to when the engine is warm. This is simply the operation of the control system to warm the engine quickly. It does not indicate a malfunction.

What I gather from that is the TC-SST will upshift in manual mode automatically as part of the control system. This is to prevent a high revving engine when the engine is not warmed up. Of course, I can't find that exact explanation anywhere else in the manual.

Nice find omegis. I keep forgetting some places get really cold. Nice to see an answer for something so strange.

Don't attempt to fix anything. Let the dealership handle that crap. That is a replaced transmission right there.
