added a small tuning faq section. not sure what else to add to it - mainly focused on what normal owners should know when looking to get their car tuned

thanks for the positive feedback everyone!

^Solid inserts from Whiteline, they tighten up the shift quite a bit. And by default, they actually taught me how to time my downshift better; you can feel driveshaft movement more clearly as a result of the solid inserts.

I plan on doing this as well, but I meant more along the lines of changing the LSD. I haven't seen anyone doing that yet.

I believe Cusco offers a couple options, but as I've heard only race-built cars have installed them. I personally don't see what the point would be for my car, IMO the system works excellent as is.

I'm bored while watching MLG Providence (SC2), so I could add another section - just not sure what to cover next?

what are some other questions that many people want answered and stickied?

ok!

Battery Solution:
Just move it to the trunk - lower cost and no hassle on fabrication/fitment

Anyway, just got my X put together. Here is an example of why you need a tuner with SST experience, or at least guidance by one.

Here is a pull about half-way through our tune (SSP-TX).
We were focusing on tuning the boost, and at this point, it looks like a decently smooth plot - but what's with the torque curve?

Our torque is dipping, but our boost doesn't indicate that - boost is holding steady enough, it shouldn't be causing a loss in torque. This was the SST receiving TOO much torque than what's expected in the tune. This is your SST purposely slipping your clutches to hit the target torque.

Now imagine your "tuner" tunes your SST like any other car - turns up boost but doesn't touch your SST tables. You have wads of increased torque, but your SST will be doing everything it can to bring it back down - purposely slipping your clutches until they're destroyed (if not the whole transmission).

Don't take any tuner's word for knowing how to tune an SST. Those that can you should already know.

Good visual aid as to why the SST isn't just boost/timing/fuel

I thought so too - I took a picture immediately when I saw it for the forums to see/understand. I didn't even care to take a picture of my final hp/tq numbers.

And fyi, this is ALREADY with adjusted SST tables. Eric@SSP-TX started off with +15%, I believe, and it was surprisingly not enough. Imagine how much worse this would be with completely untouched SST tables.

So this is a very weak example if anything.

Are you talking about the "requested torque" tables or "SST Torque Limit" tables?

I believe Torque Limit - but I'm not the tuner

it was 6am and my squinty asian eyes were even squintier, couldn't see the laptop

I really do find the extra dynamics of the SST and tuning really interesting though. tuning regular cars seems so boring in comparison
