Slightly off topic, but important to the conversation:
I see lightly used SST's for sale somewhat regularly, in the $3-5K price range with 15-50K miles. At this cost it would be cheaper to break it down, replace everything that can be with upgraded parts and pay the labor, than swapping in a 5 speed.
Additionally, all these quotes of $12-14k for a new SST installed are dealer invoices, which are purposely inflated from the Mitsu; not independent shop prices. It's my belief that Mitsu purposely inflate these figures (accounting games).

No, it was not. I have spoken to the guys at WORKS about their RA.

Here is the story:

I can't remember if it was RRM or RRE (I am going to assume that it was RRE) took a Lancer GTS, turbocharged it with RA/Evo X parts, swapped in the RA driveline/fuel tank/etc., replaced the GTS transmission with an Evo X manual, and created a true manual AWD regular Lancer with a manual transmission. Have I ever seen this car? No. Have I talked to anyone at either company about that car? No. That is just the word on the street. It is apparently true. It is also one of a kind.

It was RRM (they do work on non-factory-turbo lancers, including turbo kits for GTS).

The floorboard stuff I totally understand when going from a normal FWD lancer chassis to AWD since you need to allow room for the rear diff, diff mounts, driveshaft, etc.

Again, the transmission isn't ANYWHERE CLOSE to the floor plan on either chassis. Swapping a 5spd into a Ralliart will not change this. The Tcase sits in the exact same spot on RA/Evo 10.

Please put this to rest, stop with the assumptions, and just look at the drivetrain and chassis imagery.

The question is, are there any other companies other than SSP who sell or will be selling parts for the SST like the packs and steels? It feels like their prices are just jacked because no one else sells any other parts

Okay! That helped a lot.

Refined base assumption is $5k for a SST replacement (not $12K :O)
and the EVO X tranny/pedal/shift assy. would be 'close' to $5K... (maybe less, but not a lot less)

So for simplicity and time i would now just source a low mileage used TC-SST.

(and keep taking good care of the one i have )

WORKS Ralliart is still SST, the one that they track. Came 1st place a few times
First Ralliart motor died from overheating, since They rebuilt the Ralliart it still has SST.

the time I went to Infineon Raceway & visited WORKS, I saw a what looks like a GTS with everything stripped from the interior & engine bay with RA motor/turbo & 5spd from (I presume Evo X GSR) nothing is hooked up electrically nor was it running at the time.
(This could just be prototype kinda thing or customer request. idk if it is a WORKS GTS/RA AWD 5spd build)

I have pics somewhere... (Remind me of a UFO sighting or something)
No its a unicorn.

This is correct.

It still front wheel drive GSR with the 2.4L, tire spin all day, yeah it might be good at highway speeds but turns and launching isnt going to be anything like my RA

From info(above) yes, but not cost-effective (the original question).

The s/w for the ECU would a real issue. Maybe just use the GSR basemap? [shrug]

If your TC-SST goes, you're better off parting out the car then buying a new one.
