Getting it back on track, unless you're in 1st or 6th, isn't the transmission ALWAYS shifting, regardless of whether you're shifting or not? Because it's always trying to predict the next gear and pre-select it.

So I wonder if you're holding it in 2nd and manual, is the transmission still going 1-3-1-3-1-3?

Pre-selecting a gear doesn't mean it's engaged. There is a really good thread on EvoX with excellent pics, but this is a good idea of how stuff works:

Yeah, it could well be - we just don't notice from the outside, as 2nd is engaged throughout!

Yeah...

EvoXForums have their epic rat orgies.

EvolutionM... has busty nuns on rollercoasters!

It's really, really close... but I think EvoM takes this round on points! lol

Rich

PARENTAL ADVISORY: Do NOT google "epic rat orgy" if you're at work, at church group, or around anyone who might object to seeing images of an actual epic rat orgy.

Scan the code. My guess is P123X or P124X. If that is the case, the transmission is not to blame, though you have gotten your first taste of limp-in mode. If the code is something else, I'd be interested to hear it.

Ok here's my story, my car is booked in to have its gearbox changed out at 49,000k's (under warranty) next week because of clutch slippage. Most days the car is driven carefully as a daily driver as me or wifey is driving with the kids in the back seat. She usually drives auto/normal and I usually drive manual/normal as i find in manual/sports the gear changes are quite clunky in the lower rev range. It is driven hard in manual/sports when I have it to myself. It is stock standard except for a cosworth panel filter which gave me no noticeable improvements. It has seen 2 tracks days, a few drag runs, and topped at 220km/hr. Now I have a few questions in order to keep my new gear box.
1 - Does the way it gets driven seem to be the wrong way for this clutch?
2 - I would have assumed that any power upgrades would be more strenuous on the clutch, after reading this it seem this will have no effect (excluding my warranty should this happen again), is this corect?
3 - The dealer told me that the gearboxes have been upgraded since the model that is in my car (Oct 09 build), but I have seen nothing to support this, is this true?
4 - Also lastly, what are you guys using to record your SST temp? I will def want to be able to monitor this from now on.

Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like a decent mix of conditions to me. Pretty much like my own pattern of usage (except I only use AUTO mode for testing base maps, hehe).

My 2009 is still going strong... touch wood... using razorlab's boostpill Base Map tune for the last 16 months or so.

Dunno about that!

Via Evoscan... using these types of defs...

Code:
<DataListItem DataLog="N" Color="" Display="SST Transmission Temp" LogReference="SST_TM_Temp" RequestID="CAN28-0" Eval="x-50" Unit="C" MetricEval="x-50" MetricUnit="Deg C" ResponseBytes="1" GaugeMin="0" GaugeMax="1000" ChartMin="0" ChartMax="1000" ScalingFactor="1" Notes="" Priority="1" Visible="False" />
<DataListItem DataLog="N" Color="" Display="Odd Clutch Temp" LogReference="OddClutchTemp" RequestID="CAN33-0" Eval="x/4" Unit="C" MetricEval="" MetricUnit="" ResponseBytes="2" GaugeMin="0" GaugeMax="255" ChartMin="0" ChartMax="255" ScalingFactor="1" Notes="" Priority="1" Visible="False" />
<DataListItem DataLog="N" Color="" Display="Even Clutch Temp" LogReference="EvenClutchTemp" RequestID="CAN33-2" Eval="x/4" Unit="C" MetricEval="" MetricUnit="" ResponseBytes="2" GaugeMin="0" GaugeMax="255" ChartMin="0" ChartMax="255" ScalingFactor="1" Notes="" Priority="1" Visible="False" />
Cheers,

I always use manual normal/sport. 9898 miles with a cat back and balance 16 map. And I push it hard at times and it's still good. So far... Nock on wood. Tho with my luck I'll have issues eventually

There has been speculation that possibly the solenoids were upgraded from the 08X/09RA to all 10+ models (X & RA); and a change in the tune as well.
But w/o the ability to buy these parts, it's really difficult to validate.
