What oil changes would YOU do?

Hey guys, I have a 2009 Ralliart that I only drive on evenings and weekends, so I just recently hit the 15,000 mile mark. Up until now, the only general maintenance I've done on my car is ENGINE oil changes. In reviewing the scheduled maintenance table on the first page of the following very informative and helpful thread, https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...fications.html , it seems to me that besides ENGINE oil changes, there are 4 different OTHER types of oil changes that are recommended by Mitsubishi within the first 15,000-30,000 miles of driving. They are as follows:
1. TC-SST oil change
2. Transfer Case oil change
3. Rear Axle oil change(for differential part)
4. Rear Axle oil change(for torque transfer part)

Keep in mind, that although my car only has 15,000 miles, it IS 3 years old now and I DON'T have a garage at my house, so even though the fluids don't have a lot of miles on them, they do have a fair amount of AGE on them, and that's another reason I thought now might be a good time to take care of some of this. However, I also don't want to flush hard earned money down the toilet if some or all of these 4 oil change options really aren't necessary at this point. Thanks in advance for your advice, opinions, and recommendations!

You don't have #4. That is Evo only. I would do all of them. If you do the changes yourself, and do a bit of research on this forum, you could change everything for around $300. This figure includes the filter for the SST that the manual doesn't mention.

^^^Definitely those three. I just completed all three, plus engine oil, for my 45k servicing.

The car is on Swift springs and finding a rear jack point AND jackstand point is somewhat challenging. I went a different route and purchased a set of composite vehicle ramps from Autozone. Back the car onto the ramps and jackstand the front level. gives you a good 20-22 inches of workspace and levels the car out perfect.

The T-case and Rear Diff are going to require a fluid pump, easiest and cheapest way is to get a $10 marine hand pump and if it does not fit the bottle threads then pick up some 1 liter dasani bottles to empty and dry. Simply top off the dasani bottle with the fluid and screw the pump to it, makes it a lot easier.

Hope this helps!

I won't be doing the oil changes myself, but I'm sure this nice write up will probably help somebody else, so thanks!

No problem, lol, it is good stuff to know anyways.

I used to pay the stealership for servicing, but more than often it is an 18 year old lube tech with no clue how to properly service your specific vehicle. That alone makes me highly nervous.

The amount of hard-earned money you can save yourself is also in the $100's by DIY, just keep documentation of mileage, service, and receipts for warranty.

Agreed, I wasn't planning on taking it to the dealership either. I was actually going to have CBRD Speedfactory do the work for me along with a bunch of other new mods for my car, since they specialize in performance mods for Evos and Ralliarts. I figure they know what they're doing!

I remembered again today why I've NEVER taken my car to the dealership(except for factory recalls) since I bought it back in 2009. I called one of the Mitsu dealerships in the area(York Mitsubishi in York, PA) and asked to speak to the service manager and told him that I had a 2009 Ralliart and wanted to do the TC-SST oil change, Transfer Case oil change, and Rear Diff oil change(as many of you have recommended in this thread). He must have asked me no less than THREE times what model car I was talking about and I kept saying "Ralliart". When that finally registered in his brain, he asked me the next stupid question which made me almost hang up the phone on him immediately, which was "That's front wheel drive, right?". I said, no sir, it's an all-wheel drive vehicle, to which he replied that the Evo is the only all-wheel drive vehicle in the Lancer lineup. I replied, "I'm sorry sir, you're wrong", and then he told me to hold on a minute while he "verified" that HE was right. Finally, he got back on the phone and apologized and admitted that I was correct, to which I expressed that I was terrified about taking my car to a dealership where I know more about the vehicle than they do!!! As I stated in a previous post, I have no intention of doing the oil changes myself(I have lots of head knowledge, but I'm not mechanically inclined at all), so can anyone recommend a Mitsu dealership or an auto performance shop within reasonable driving distance of Baltimore, MD who actually knows about these cars and can do the necessary oil changes properly? Lastly, from reading the owners manual, it looks like only 2 different kinds of oils are need for these 3 oil changes. My understanding from the manual is as follows, but please let me know if I'm mistaken:

1. TC-SST oil change will require: DIA QUEEN SSTF-1
2. Transfer case oil change AND Rear Diff oil change will BOTH use: Mitsubishi limited slip differential oil(LSD) or equivalent

Read this for the SST https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/mi...sst-fluid.html. A lot of people are not using diaqueen for the SST anymore! Do it if you only feel comfortable!

You, my man, are my new best friend!! I went to SSP's website and got in touch with Jeremy who is familiar with my area, and he hooked me up with a performance shop nearby called IAG who I intend to call tomorrow! Thanks for your help Jkennedy293!

Remember, it was ME who just posted in another thread how I've been so frustrated because I've been trying to get CBRD to work on my car for over a year now and they've always been too busy to get me in there. In fact, YOU yourself commented about how it took "*****" for CBRD to be so honest in affirming that what I was saying was true. It was in the following thread(posts #15-#25) if you still can't remember:

The rear diff is easier then an engine oil change.

I could probably do it with my eyes closed if somebody challenged me to it.
