Hello all,

I'm having an issue that started up within the past couple weeks, on my '09 Ralli. When in 4th, 5th, or 6th gears, if I apply gas, a weird humming noise starts up. It's difficult to describe, but it's definitely not natural. I just crossed the 85k threshold, and commute around 130 miles roundtrip to work about 4 times a week. Has anyone ever heard of this happening, and what was the cause/fix?

Also one last question, I had a blowout on the freeway a couple months ago, which destroyed the tpms sensor in the tire. I got that replaced, but it hasn't been calibrated with the car yet, so the tpms light is still on. Would this instance also cause the AWD service light to come on? it started coming on pretty much when the tpms light did.

Sorry if I'm being vague, I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to cars, so I'm relying on your opinion and expertise. Thanks!

I'll try to help you out as much as I can since no one else will. I just have a few questions.

1) how loud is this "humming"?
2) where do you think it's coming from? Like the engine bay, under the car, in the rear?
3) when you had a blow out did you use the spare tire? If so how long and far did you drive on it?
4) did you just replace the one tire that was blown out or replaced them all?
5) is the TPS from the dealer or just some cheap replacement?

1. The TPMS light can only be fixed by a dealer with MUTIII.
2. The TPMS light willnot affect the AWD Service light.
3. Your humming and 'service AWD light' are quite possibly linked. Check your fluid first.

If the humming is coming from the trans area, could be bad transfer case. Have you changed your SST/diff fluids recently? those need to be done every 15k miles.

Does the humming have an electrical kind of sound to it, cause that's the sound I am currently hearing but between 5 & 6 gear shift, dealer is gonna check it out saying might be my clutch shutter which according to him is pretty normal when high kms are present. I am at 168km

I am with JHurley, sounds like a duck (noise when accelerating) and looks like a duck (the AWD light). Probably a duck (Transfer case)
