Cobb AP, ECU, TCU, Intercooler question (Modding)
Hey everyone,
So I have spent the past few days reading the sticky post and searching through the forums to get a better understanding on how everything works together and what would be best for my Ralliart. first, ill say what I have done so far and what I was thinking about doing, which is where i need help.
So far:
Ultimate Racing Cat-back dual exhaust
Cosworth performance air filter
What I was thinking:
Mitsubishi 3-Port Boost Control Solenoid (BCS)
Evo X Bpv
Evo X intercooler + Piping
Cobb Accessport
Issues and concerns:
I read the great post by Exyia. It was made pretty clear that if I switch out for the Evo X Intercooler and piping a tune is not needed, because it basically improves efficiency not boost power. Also can I change the intercooler and use the accessport beta maps?
Would the Evo X Bpv require a specific tune since im only changing from a plastic to evo x aluminum one to reduce boost leak?
Moving on to the Cobb accessport. I liked the fact that it provided a convenience factor, so I could switch back to stock and be able to measure with one product. With the BCS I will be able to run stage 2; However, my first concern is that the boost goes from stock 13.5 psi all the way to 21 psi in stage 2. Our turbo can handle up to about 25psi, but is a huge jump from 13.5 psi to 21 psi detrimental to anything in specific. IMO it is a big jump and im concerned about reliability at that level.
Another concern, was that I was reading the launch control/ s-sport post. Someone had mentioned that it does not affect the ECU, but rather the TCU. I will be honest I do not know the difference much. But someone posted that flashing the ECU only is not good, because the TCU will be holding it back since it is expecting stock performance. In addition, my ralliart currently cannot go past 6 3/4 rpm's. How can I get the gears to be able to shift at higher revs such as 7.5 perhaps?
My goal is to do some autocrossing through out the year and that is why I want the Evo X intercooler since our stock one is crappy from what people say. I am not trying to compete seriously I just want to have some fun and learn in the process. My next step is learning on how to improve handling through suspension mods, but Idk anything about that; thus, any tips in advance would be great! or if anyone knows a progression post similar to Exyias in regards to suspension and handling. Thanks in advance!!!!
