Results with some proof!!! 8)

So went to boostin performance here in IL a couple weeks ago and got a tune with following mods:

*k&n air filter
*Evo X bpv, intercooler and aftermarket piping
*AMS boost pill
*hi-flow cat
*spaced muffler from piping with springs to give it a nice sexy rumble

252whp and 292wtq....not too shabby! He left it at that due to a little tranny slippage but said there is definitely more room! I plan on leaving it at that for now and eventually new clutch packs and possibly Evo x turbo swap, but that's once i get bored with this power lol....changed tranny fluid to Pentosin FFL-2 so no apparent slipping right now so gonna enjoy it as it is!!!

Thank you for the kind words! We're glad to hear you're happy with your car after Devin tuned it!

good to know there is a local and reliable shop for people in the chicagoland area. would this tune be considered "safe" to run for a lifetime so to speak? you mentioned the tranny slipping. if you were to bump up the power slightly more.. would the tranny continue to slip? or there is other things missing from this set up in order to not make the tranny slip with the increase of a little more power? in other words are clutch packs considered mandatory for anything past 250whp?

Yeah it would definitely be considered safe for the life of the car. My clutches were slipping because the car is on 40,000 miles and i dont know how hard the person before me ran it. I believe clutches are normally good up to about 300 whp and then its a good idea to upgrade. I will be replacing them with better ones when they get worse and will be bumping up power. So nothinng really missing just normal wear.

stock clutches can handle 350wtq easy, anything above that will cause them to wear quickly. you shouldnt be slipping that low of power but like u said the previous owner could possibly have beat it up launching it and what not. i would def stay away from FFL2, ull only continue slipping with that fluid.

hmmm..... freaking damn my gfs ralliart has 55k this doesnt make me feel hopeful as far as a tune even at 250whp...but it all depends on the previous owner treated. when she bought it or prior to i did my best to "inspect" or look for mods. i didnt see any but who knows... she would kill me if "make it faster" and her trans will start slipping. i guess the only true way to check is to replace the SST fluid and tune?..

Yepp pretty much lol...devin who tuned my car at the shop told me and said i can run it like that for now but gonna need to change them eventually so the way it is is fine by me for the moment...all that power did come with the few mods i listed above, otherwise not exactly sure what you'd get with bone stock setup.

thanks for respondnig btw- well its her daily and everything that i plan to do pretty much matches your set up. so thats why im really intrigued. im looking for the evo x intercooler as well and i will do the AMS boost pill.
did you get s-sport as well? or just went from stock to getting the tune? im thinking what might be a better.. more cost effective route..

evo base map with s-sport?
or do what you did and get it tuned by someone like boostin

side note i see you are from palatine i live in waukegan. its been really hard to find other ralliart owners locally. i daily drive a lexus is300/ ralliarts is my gfs.. but you know how that goes.. i get to play with both. we have an awesome local fb page for owners for the lexus i was wondering if one exist out there for ralliart owners/evo mr ?

dont get me wrong love the forum and such but sometimes i think knowing a bunch of local owners comes in handy.

either way man i think 250qhp is still impressive and im sure the difference is night and day.

I just went from stock to tune and mods. No s-sport mode and considering tranny condition probably not happening anytime soon lol. I have a tactrix cable and all but i figured id get a tune first that way i have my stock map as well as the tune map saved. Also with all the diff things i added i figured it worth it to get things a lil more fine tuned...as far as any local groups i personally dont know of any but id love to find one 8)

Your trans should not be slipping. I am running 306 WHP and 302 TQ and I have zero slippage. I also use DIA QUEEN fluid. If you go to the SST trans thread there is a huge discussion about why people should not use pentosin and some of the issues people had with it and other fluids that were not dia queen. They did not start having issues until long after using it. Again I am surprised you said you had slippage. There is people running even more whp and tq than me on stock clutches and they have no slippage either. Would be interested to see some logs and find out whats going on.

The slipppage the tuner had develop was before tranny fluid change and he said it might be fixed with change or clutches may be going. I dont really feel any slippage anymore to be honest, but eventually plan on upgrading clutch packs anyways. Havent had it retuned since so not 100% on any remaining issue and Havent really run the car hard but so far so good. As far as ffl2 i talked to some people who have been and still are using it for well over 10k miles with no issues and ive read every single thread on here and other forums about this, and as of now gonna run it like that and maybe switch to diaqueen later to see if there is any apparent difference. As far as power im fine with it for now but maybe when next summer rolls around might go the evo x swap route or something. At some point would like to run some logs to really see whats going on. Still working on reading merlins whole guide on tuning and getting comfortable with it, school and work tend to take up most of my time though lol.

This is why you want a S-Sport flash as well. Not because you will use Launch Control, but because driving in S-Sport increases clutch pressure and reduces slippage

Total is right, stay away from Pentosin FFL-2 , it made my tranny slip too, that stuff is no good. I changed it back to immediately, Stick with the diaqueen fluid.
