sst issue fix

hey everyone
i am looking at buying a 2011 lancer ralliart that's cheap because of this issue
when i drive it the gear box has 0 issues but after 40 mins of driving it goes in to manual mode by itself and im only able to select 1/3/5 gears and a warning comes up saying service required
what could the possibly be (there is no strange noises at all and the car drives normally up until then)
the owner says he hasn't had an oil change done on the sst in awhile so i am assuming it could be metallic gunk building up on the magnet on the shift fork
so a oil change and fluch may fix it and is there a possibility a reteach may fix it as well?

if anyone has any ideas of possible causes and what could fix it please let me know
thanks

Its likely something that will require a trans rebuild. Just beware. If you want to be armed before you buy, pull transmission codes and look them up. Otherwise you have to assume it might be a rebuild. (for example for a loose magnet)

It's a bit late but likely it's going to require a rebuild. You'll need to pull codes to verify but likely it's a 4th gear shift magnet issue. I would figure another $3500-$5000 for a rebuild - possibly more.
