Auxilliary Input - FIGLI Install

2009 Ralliart

It's actually a little embarrassing to have to ask this, as I used to manage a car audio installation bay (yeesh), but...

For the life of me I can't figure out how to get the lower center area of the dash off. It's been a few years, but this just seems overly complicated.

Short and sweet version, I'm one of the... well... pretty much everyone with this car that has that f'ng buzzing sound in the auxilliary input. Please, don't try to tell me I just need to have the IPod on first and blah blah blah. I've read it all, trust me, this needs a FIGLI.

That said... anyone, please... treat me like an idiot and I'll love you forever if you can give me step by step instructions on getting behind that panel where the Aux is.

Thanks!

What's a FIGLI? Because if were talking about the same buzzing sound. I'll love to know this too. I have a Sirius radio NOT stock on my car. Its an old one that i have on my windshield and has a headphone jack that I have plug into my AUX. And when ever I listen to a talk show, I constantly hear it when I have the radio turned up all the way to like, 25 on the dial.

Ground Loop Isolator - the idea is it takes the background noise out of a line (in this case a pair of RCA jacks for an auxiliary input) at the cost of some sound quality.

It works (in most cases) by grounding the excess signal (which is basically just extra electricity) into the vehicle chassis and keeping the normal signal sending through. The reason it dumps some sound quality is it is a very simple device and it will cut out certain bandwidth frequencies full-time, including the buzzing noises you don't want.

That said, generally it's just a matter of getting back there, running the GLI to the back end of the stereo and then having the jacks connect to the GLI - but in my case (though I haven't read the link the other guy posted yet) this is proving... interesting. :P

PERFECT! Thanks man. Exactly what I needed.

And yeah, I was expecting a pain once I realized there were like 7 interlocking panels that were held in from an unknown spot, hehe.

Yeah, I would do that, but my dealer went out of business... like 3 months after I bought the car. Haha. I have to drive like 2.5 hours to the nearest Mits dealer. Sucks.
