SST oil and filter change
#31
I just changed mine today. There was about 7L and the filter was nasty dirty. I also installed the RRE Tranny Kit. There is a FM cooler and upgraded stock location cooler. I put in a little over 8L to account for the larger cooler, additional cooler, and lines.
Wow, made such a difference. My shifts were starting to shift pretty hard. It is sooooo much smoother now.

That was the longest install & fluid change ever. Damn torque screws & missing 10mm socket.

Also, has anyone else noticed that there's a plug conveniently located right near the driver's axle which would be great to use as a fill-level check hole? I haven't confirmed if that is, in fact, what it is, but it would be a nice find huh? This is how terrible Mitsu is with these things, they don't even train their tech's on their product. Just replace it if it goes bad. That is all.
Here is a photo from a Mitsu News letter:

It seems to be this plug on the picture: Just above the sway bar in the first of my pictures, just below on the second one.
Photo from the Drivers side, the car is jacked up, so the swaybar is hanging a bit more than on Mitsubishis drawing.
Can anyone confirm this ?

Quick question.....im just about to get my Transmission Fluid changed @ the dealer this week. Im currently @ 34,000 KM's. This is my first flush.
Ive noticed in the last 4,000KM's that my car is working harder, doesn't seem to be picking up as fast, loss of power (slightly), shifting is slow and more annoying more vibrations throughout the car WOT.
Is it possible NOT changing the fluid this long could trigger these symptoms?
Once the fluid has been changed will I notice a huge improvement?

Are there any crush washers on the drain plugs like on the oil plug that need to be replaced? Or they basically just screw on and off? Also are you guys just hand tightening them with a regular ratchet or torquing them down, and if so how many lbs?

I wouldn't trust them with it unless it's a trusted shop. It's pretty simple and could be done yourself. I could do it but AWDMotorsports is right around the corner so im going to have them do it instead, just for the fact i know they won't cut corners and have done several of them before. I would never take it to some mom and pop shop or the typicall chain store though. The SST requires a certain type of fluid, most shops would quote you on the standard CVT fluid which probably wont turn out too good for you or the tranny in the long run. Im pretty sure there are some trusted shops in IL, maybe someone will chime in exactly who and where.
