Tiny rust colored spots "rail dust"

I bought the car brand new in Oct 2012 and drove it through the winter. The next spring, when I had a good chance to detail the car, I found tiny rust colored spots on the majority of the car. The majority, meaning generally no higher than the top of the wheel wells and from the back of the front wheel well to the rear bumper.

The pic isn't the greatest and I'll try to get one better when I get the time, but you can see tiny rust color spots all over the pic; this was taken on the drivers door. You can also search Google for rail dust and find good pics. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had to pay to get it buffed, which happened towards the end of last year before winter again. After the buff, I gave it a good wax, and was fairly confident it shouldn't happen again. But, lo and behold, they came back just as bad as the first time.

I am not gonna pay $300 a year to get a buff for this crap ... I pretty sure it's coming from the factory break pads. Any other Wicked White Ralliarts' experiencing the same thing? I would like to push back on to Mitsubishi for this ...

This has been mentioned in other areas by people as well ...

U don't need to have it buffed. Using a claybar will take it off.
Your detailer claybars the car prior to any buffing at this step it's removed otherwise the dust with get buffed in which would make deep scratches

I've already tried clay bar, the rust spots still remain.

I get them on my WW as well. I agree with the claybar statement but i think the paint is so thin on these cars that it actually penetrates the clear coat.

I also get a few chips on the roof over the winter that like to rust as well. For those i use a sandpaper pen (glass strands) to remove the dust, then apply with a touch-up paint pen.

I also have a Wicked White Ralliart and have this same problem. Every year, since I have owned the car, I would spend an entire day using the clay bar to remove all of the rail dust. I did some research a few month ago and came across a product called Iron X. I wish I would have discovered this years ago! Using this before a clay bar removed at least 95% of the rail dust. It will also remove wax, so be sure to use it before you wax your car. Also, do not use it in direct sunlight or let it dry on the car. It will produce some hideous stains if you let it sit for awhile. I have used this product on the entire vehicle (paint, glass, plastic, window trim, wheels, tires) and have not run into any issues.

I do not. I have EBC Red Stuff pads with Centric Blank rotors.

So I was able to get a hold of a fine grade clay bar and spent 3 hours straight hammering that rail dust out ... 3 hours just to clay bar ... ridiculous. After a few days I still noticed spots that I missed. Not a wise paint choice by Mitsubishi ... one of the many reasons why this will be the last one I own.
