must be all the snow you drive it through. if its still within your warrenty, they should cover it. whats their reasoning for not covering it?

I have had rusts spots on my hood for some time now, and I tried to take it in. The excuse they gave me was I was past my 12000 warranty, or something that had to do with 12000 miles, really gay.

no need to arranty for rail dust. usually if you do warranty it, it is up to one year. rail dust is tiny particles of iron from trains that fly off the trains wheels etc. usually it is due to shipping although i doubt there are many trains in puerto rico. What you need to do is clay your car. it can be a pain but claying should take out most of the particles. after claying, you need to polish, then wax your car. after that it should be all good
Make sure you use a polish, and not a wax/polish(one step) product. i know it seems for a lot of work but it's worth it. use a buffer if possible- i bought a cordless 12v buffer from sears for about 50 bucks.

the rail dust is durst that comes from the tracks when they come from Japan. Thats how most get transported. Your dealer should have cleaned all this stuff off when they got the car. As far as i know the rail dust has some kind of special cleaner they use to get it off. Go to service department and ask them. If they say WTF go to toyota, honda, nissan or any japanese car maker and ask if they can do anything. It really isnt rust on the car just the rust from the train rail so your car is not rusting up. Samt thing happened to my friends white Scion TC

Take your car to a reputable detailer. They should be able to remove the rust from your paint. Please note that I said reputable and experienced, because the methods required for this can damage the paint if done incorrectly.

But I am really just reiterating what mrbkkt1 said....
