I was reading a couple of threads in the evo section in regaurd to rust, aparently the evo's have a common problem with rust under the rear bumper, where the rear crash beam bolts to the car, has anyone noticed this with their ralliart when they have taken off their rear bumper, or have any other problems with rust on their car ? just odd that their having problems with rust, guys are reporting rust spots with their brand new evo's ..

just really blows me away that evo owner are reporting this, guys that have owned their evo's for 1 or 2 months, i know sooner or later a car will rust, but come on brand new ....

A lot of it has to do with humidity and how the state handles winters, as well. When I lived in southern Idaho, I /never/ had rust (dry desert climate in the summer, and they used sand instead of salt in the winter.) When I moved to Michigan, which is high-humidity and uses salt in the winters, the car I brought over with me had rust all over the engine bay within 6 months.

i could be wrong, but i dont think its that big of a deal...
if it started in 03 and still hasnt been fixed by mitsu then it cant be. if it were something risking people lives they would fix it, the last thing they need is thousands of lawsuits.
butt anyway, i looked all under my car earlyer, and i have yet to come across any rust when working on it. so idk

Similar in Canada. Cars from Ontario and Quebec rust out like crazy. Cars from the west, where I am, don't rust nearly as quickly. We have dry winters and they use sand in the winter. They do use salt in the fall and spring though.
