I have the same kind of problem with my Exedy TD. It makes that horrible noise in 1st if I don't nearly stall the car when starting. I also get it when down shifting if I'm off by more then 500rpms. I also have the problem of the clutch not disengaging after I slow down in any gear. Its perfect on upshifts but slowing to a stop, then pressing in the clutch, it take about 2 seconds to actually disengage. I can force it out of gear, but it feels like shifting without using the clutch (not something I do with this car, by the way). I can make it release faster if I blip the throttle after I press the clutch in all the way. The synchros sound fine, and this only started happening after the new clutch install. I had the SS line installed and the restrictor removed, but I knew nothing about the rod extension. Could this be the root of the my problems?

I attempted adjusting the pedal several times (closer to floor and higher) and nothing seems to even lessen the noise. Mine makes the sound also if I give it any gas at all (not almost stalling the car). It only happens in first right when I'm engaging it and when I'm downshifting, it almost feels like it is slipping while it makes the noise but shortly after the noise stops and it grabs. I have been breaking it in properly but only have about 650 miles on it. Will the sound/slipping decrease with time as it gets broken in?

That is normal w/ a twin disk. Its the disks getting a little glazed over. Mine does it all the time and you can not adjust the clutch to fix it. If you give it a few good launches it will take the glaze off the disk and the sound will go away for a while.

I had my twin disk for one week and at first the engagement was in the middle and it felt nice. 3 days later the engagemnet went to the top and I have that rubbing metal noise your describing when I downshift and when I take off. I had this noise with my stock clutch and it went away though. Right now I'm going to adjust the pedal to see I can make it feel good again.
