More Road Dyno Results

Got my road Dyno and made a couple of runs. PITA to do by yourself. The road may not be as flat as it should be but easy to test on.

Specs of test
Road Dyno v1.0
2003 Evolution

Test Weight: 3461 lb
Engine Type: 4 stroke
Tranny Type: M
Axle Ratio: 4.529
Test Gear: 1.950
Tire Width: 235 mm
Tire Aspect: 45 %
Wheel Diameter: 17 inches
Drag Coeff: 0.36
Frontal Area: 2.318 M^2
Drivetrain Loss: .00
Air Temp: 67 F
Rel. Humidity: 97 %
Barometer: 29.70 In
Elevation: 53 Ft
Correction Fact: 0.999 SAE

There was only 2.9 gallons of gas in the car, that's why it a little light and I weigh about 180 and no sunroof. This is a 2nd gear run. Anyone know the accurate drivetrain loss on the Evo?
It was actually drizzling during the test, hence the R/H. I think I shut down at 6800 and that is where my HP peaked. I'll test again later and get over 7, I've had it to like 7300 with no cut.

I like it and it seems to be pretty accurate.
My mods are RMR DP and Bushur Airfilter. Oil Catch Tank(like it matters) Ground kit and no spraying to cool IC.

Here is my 3rd gear run. My first run and it was not very clean. First time I had ever used the tool. As you can see this graph is kind of ****ty. I was no smooth getting to WOT and didn't go high enough.
Got out of it too early this time for sure.

I hit 251WHP on mine My mods where BOV & intake.. I did not have baro set 100% correct but guessed 1000MB (today is 1013MB) and i need to fix the elevation.. i had it set at sea level and i am at 829ft..

The road i was on was not perfect either.. I think i will go find a better road to get a really accurate reading.

Timzcat,

Nice! Glad you bought it. Once you get used to using it, you'll find it pretty easy. We (xtnct) and I get rolling on the shoulder under 2k shift to 3rd then WOT and hit record. The 3rd gear pull seems more accurate as things are not happening as fast. I'll post my graphs from the July 4th run we made with the Ralliart Panel Filter.

So far I know of at least 5 EVO's dynoed using the Road Dyno and all the results have been very consistent when corrected for temp, press and humidity. It is really a valuable tuning yardstick. Thanks xtnct for introducing me to it!

assumptions about driveline loss:
Manual- 2wd 15%, Awd 25%
Auto- 2wd 25%, Awd- not sure, a lot

these are not exact, you would have to get your flywheel hp and whp for figure out your exact loss

If I had my flywheel HP and BHP I wouldn't have to figure out the loss?

zyounker: The baro makes a little difference but the elevation is huge.

Yeah speedlimit, it really is nice and easy to use. Gotta watch for cops on the 3rd gear run with those speeds.
Well worth the $150. We want to get the numbers for my friends Chevelle and try it. He'd have to go in 3rd (auto) and not even sure if he will e able to get traction on the street tires. That should hit at least 600whp or more. Easily a low 10 car with the new 454 in it.

timzcat. Cool stuff.

From the few years of using it, I noticed that the slightest road imperfections create spikes in the graphs. It is very sensitive....

For best results, find a flat (no hills), no road cracks or potholes and do runs in 3rd gear both ways.

Finding a good road is the hardest part...
