I went from mobil 1 to royal purple and my lifters ticked alot louder than before. Also when I was logging it with evoscan my motor was getting 8 counts of knock. I just switch back to mobil 1 and the knock went away..

Knowing Mitsubishi, they'll use whatever oil you provide for them. Come time for any warranty work, I'm sure that they'll use that against you in some form or another.

Testing has shown Mobil 1, Amsoil, Redline, and Motul are ALL better than Royal Purple. Royal Purple sucks.

That's kind of a overgeneralization.

Different oils will behave differently in different engines. What we need is an impartial study comparing different brands and weights in Evo engines... not just people throwing out "I heard it's supposed to do this" or "My buddy has noticed this".

We're smarter than to accept marketing claims, hearsay, or non-scientific placebo-effect feedback that people believe they get when changing oils.

FWIW, I use Mobile 1 because that's what the manufacturer designed the engine for.

ha, ha! i went by the service department of my local dealer one time and there was an evo there with a spun bearing wanting warranty work. the service guy was telling me about it and said it probrably won't be covered because when they drained the oil it looked really black! i was like, if you put new oil in an engine, drive it 2 miles, and drain it, it's black, unless the engine is brand spanking new. gotta love techs!
