Rear O2 removal (Fix?)

I replaced my rear O2 sensor with my LC-1, have the O2 simulator installed, but I'm guessing the code i'm throwing is rear o2 circut error, which would probably have to do with the heater circuit being open.

Anyone have a fix for this? It's rather annoying and pulls like .7 AFR when the light is on. My only thought was to find the resistance of the heater element in the NBo2 and get an appropriate resistor, but i'm not sure that this will prevent the code from appearing or that this resistor will not get hot underneath the pass. seat. My other option is to connect the o2 sensor and tie it up underneath the car, but this seems shoddy to me, I'd rather have a clean fix.

I'd just have a bung welded in the DP and get a manual fix for the rear o2 if you're not running a cat.

I'm running my LC1 in the rear O2 as well. I didn't know it affected AFR. I run a C-reader in the OBD-II port and that tends to keep the CEL away but sometimes I get it at startup. I would be nice if a disable function was available.

If you want to trick the computer install a 12Ohm 10watt+ resistor. They are pretty large and you can pick them up at Fry's or something other large electronics store.

I have a 1/2 watt 10 ohm resistor and disabled the rear sensor in the ecm as described in aktivematrix.com. I changed ecu periphery to 56d9 to do that. I currently have the exact same setup as titanium and no check engine since putting the resistor in and the resistor never gets hot.

Hmm well I only tried that on the front O2 sensor since I'm using Zeitronix to simulate the narrowband output. Even my 5Watt resistor was starting to loose the writing on the ceramic becuase it got so warm. That experiment is over anyhow and I'm planning on moving it back to a standard front o2 setup.

maybe by disabling the rear sensor the heater gets dissabled also but not the heater test which I suspect is just a resistance test.
removing your wideband from the front o2 housing is a good idea anyways, from what I understand it will get to hot there and can kill the sensor.

here is the link for the periphery info. you may have to join to read.

<table name="ECU PEREPH4(tests)" category="Misc" address="fea" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

<table name="ECU_PEREPHERY" category="Misc" address="faa" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

<table name="ECU_PEREPHERY3" category="Misc" address="fda" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

here is the code if you prefer editing the xml dirrectly or you can use this info to add tables or if you like I can post the ev9 base that I use that has alot of other maps defined including the maps need for the jdm 3 bar map

Agreed. It cost me $10 to have a bung welded. It makes life simple

Sounds to me that with the rear O2 disabled, there is no current running through the rear O2 heater circuit. Good to know. Should be documented somewhere so people don't disable the rear O2 and leave the sensor in the exhaust pipe.

I welded a second bung into my testpipe last night. Welding thin SS tubing with mild wire wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but I got the job done.

I'm gonna keep the rear 02 in place and trick fock the ECU with spark plug fouler fix. I'll run my wideband out of the testpipe bung and route it through the same grommet as the rear O2.

The only downfall is that the rear O2 still gets polluted with leaded exhaust every weekend though I have plans of running alchy in the near future.

Why not run both stock o2 sensors and if you are running test pipe or rally cat use the psark plug anti foul mod for the elimination of the CEL. I bought the antifoul devices from PepBoys and drilled one out and my cel went away. I have a spare bung (plugged right now) for the wideband when I get it.
