Comparing to a Subaru, would that mean there is a value in our ECU similar to the Subies Ignition Advance Multiplier (IAM)? Something has to tell the ECU to access the tables.

Conversly, ever notice that every once and awhile the timing dips into negative numbers even if you have no negative numbers anywhere in any of your maps?

I've seen this happening in my '03 too. I'll have timing set to 15 at 7000rpm, but then the logs show 16 there, and also knock. I tell myself there was a reason I put it to 15 degrees

Again, we are not talking about at WOT in this thread.

Do you have 15* from 100 to max load in your map at 7k? You sure you weren't just seeing interpolation between load cells?

I hit 204 load at 7000rpm and in my timing table, I have that set to 15 degrees. You are probably right about the interpolation though, since I have load 180 set to 18 degrees.

Btw, with low det cruise map do you mean this?

I have this map on my 94170015 '03 model rom, but EcuFlash has it listed as "Boost Enhancement Advance/Retard (anti-lag)" map. There are 2 in total, map 1 has all 0's in the columns, and map 2 has a slight advance section between the 30-80% load columns from 1500-4000 rpm's. As I've been having a "mystery" knock around the 3000 rpm range, maybe I'll play with this table when it's nicer and see what it affects.

I can confirm that adjusting this map DOES have an effect on the cells modified when there is no knock.

Im going to try higher load cells of the low det timing advance map with my 91oct map ,but put 93oct in the tank and see if it will advance with the lack of knock. I will post the results if it works as expected.

Which "BE" table are you referring too?

So it would probably just be a good idea to set all the BE tables to "0" then? Would probably make things easier tuning-wise.

Interesting stuff. I had been thinking that we might be able to use this in some way akin to the Subaru Timing Multiplier (well really addition algothrim) and let the car run max timing it will take at all times and alter the the timing pulled with knock (more even if desired). All depends on how it develops overall I guess. If I can manage to find the tables the old fashioned way then I will start experimenting. I had known the Cobb had these defined but I wasnt going to mention it since I wasnt sure if they use them for a similar purpose or not.
