Problems with clutch slip on high whp MR?

Today we have a super well modified stock turbo MR which is at AWD in South Florida I am tuning on the dyno

At above 350 TQ we are seeing clutch slip on the dyno - did not take it on road yet

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem ?

There has been a few cars here on the forum that have had clutch slips with less power

was a ok on the road but it was alarming to see how weak these clutches are. The MR is a fun car with some power!

I'd heard from some guys in the industry way back before the MR came out, that the tranny was limited to roughly 375 tq at the crank.... Anyone who's making near that is just on borrowed time in my opinion. I would actually limit the torque at typical peak torque rpm range in order to maximize the life of the tranny.

I'd hate to know how much it cost to change out that tranny....

We have been working on that issue for some time now and we think we will have a solution soon . In the next few weeks xtremeboost may be adding an MR to our shop own cars and once we do so we expect to have a kit for 500+ tq soon after .

Shouldn't be that much , if anything we'll do some sort of G.B after ALL testing has been done on our part and that should keep cost down .

I had similar contacts about a year ago advising me to steer my customers looking to modify into a 5 speed trans.

I must confess the 6 speed is a really transformational part and I love it.

Perhaps there will be aftermarket solutions on the horizon ? Fingers crossed

In the meantime, I suggest that MR owners consider staying at 330 or so TQ as a practical max TQ level with the stock clutch

The MR with 550 TQ would certainly be a really fun car

I have a suggestion - why not consider a Ralliart Lancer - same trans $10,000 less - better rear diff
