Anyone installed a Pioneer MVH-8200BT in an X??

Crutchfield web site says it won't fit a 2010 X w/o the RF system. I chatted with a rep and he said it is because the radio doesn't have the right mounting holes. Has anyone McGyvered up this HU into an X?

You will need to purchase the appropriate mounting bracket for the vehicle, but there's no reason it shouldn't. If it has a DIN mounting option (the stereo- which it does), it will fit.

That is what I would have thought but (shrug) crutchfield sure doesn't offer a bracket. They just flat out say it wont fit. Maybe if I can find it local for easy return.

Crutchfield won't carry it as it is a Mitsu-specific part. Call your local dealer and order part number 91516 (Bracket, Television). Should run you about $35. This gives you the proper double-DIN mounting points (it is the bracket that the navigation system attaches to - the CD changer uses a different bracket, and is non-DIN).

After that you'll still need a dash piece. I didn't like any of them except the JDM piece, but if you want a Scoche one, I'll send it to you for just shipping.

Sweet thanks mrMTB.

Wouldn't I need that bracket for any other radio? Crutchfield seems to think other radios will fit without it. That is what really confuses me with their answer.

If it matters I don't have the cd-changer. [scratches head] at least I don't think my HU has a changer built into it. My car is 1500 miles away so I can't check and with only 350 miles on the odo my attention has been on driving it and I just don't even use CD's anymore

As for the trim peice ... I think I'm gonna start with the Scoche, so I might take you up on that, and then eventually get the JDM if the scoche annoys me.

Did you purchase the HU already? I have it installed in my 04 RA. I like that it doesn't take CD's and it's pretty nice, but can be frustrating the way the knob is used for selection when you're driving. In terms of installing it in an X, I have no idea. Went into my RA just fine.

I don't know why they would think anything else would fit any better without that piece. The non-nav stereo has two brackets that bolt onto it, and those then fit into the bracket in the car. The problem with it is that it's not DIN compliant, so bolting a stereo into it, and then attaching a new trim piece will cause the new stereo to sit at an odd angle.

As far as the 04 RA goes, the CT9A has a completely different mounting bracket in place - it's welded into the car and is DIN-compliant from the factory.

And I just checked, I thought that the base stereo was a 6 disc in-dash changer, but it appears that it is a single-disc, sorry for the confusion.

[phew] you had me tweeking about the changer haha

Ok ok, so just to make sure I'm clear ... once I have the bracket you mention, really any stereo should fit so long as it is DIN compliant? Or to even ask it this way, once I own that bracket, I could change mhy fitment setting in Crutchfield from w/o Rockford to w/ rockford? I'm making the assumption the bracket in question is what is used with the Rockford system.

Again, Thanks.

Are you sure about that part number. It does show up in a few searches but mostly at russian sites and related to years 1999-2002.

Here's a copy of the page from ASA with the appropriate part. This is 54-570 (Miscellaneous Accessory / Part). 91516L (and R) are different parts.

Call Stohlman over there in Tyson's corner. They should be able to find it in their system. I bought it from my local dealership (Don Herring in Irving, TX - they do mail order).
