If you are not planning to upgrade your Turbo Then I would go with a flash, check out Turbo Trix. If so then I would go with the aem-roughly $2000-$2100 installed and tuned TT can also give you a price on this that is accurate. Busher can also. There are many threads on the AEM and you should do some reading about the intricasy (sp) of the AEM. It has tons of features. Again if no turbo upgrade use the money on other mods and you can still get close if not 4oo hp on the stock turbo. Determine your end goals and get on a pathway to achieve it.

My 2 cents!

Another site to look at is aempower.com-

If you want to make best power, regardless of what other mods you have done to your car, complete engine control is the best solution. The AEM is the easiest to install, and has an excellent network of users for the EVO. Not to mention some excellent tuners to help you out. I would definately purchase from the guy you want to tune the car, this will net you the best money spent as well.

We sell the complete system for $2400. What this gets you is this:

AEM EMS ECU, with the integrated wide band
5 bar map sensor
Billet map sensor adapter for the EVO
Air intake temp sensor
stainless steel bung for temp sensor
Wide band 02 sensor and bung
Pigtails for wiring the map and temp sensors
The car COMPLETELY tuned.

if we come to you and have it tuned say, in the summer, does it need to be retuned for the winter? what im asking is, assuming no more mods are added, is one tune sufficient for year round driving?

Wouldn't the IAT sensor correct for this?

If I tune it in the summer and you don't add anymore mods then the tune itself will not have to be changed. You may have to add more start up fuel in the winter which is easy to do, but it should be fine.

So then this system is not like the utec? With the utec in my sti I had to tune for for the summer and winter. If I tried to use my summer tune in the winter it would cause a lot of knock. In essence I am looking for a set it and forget unless I add more mods. For my needs I was going to do a reflash but if the aem does not need to be adjusted (or minor adjustments) I may go with the aem system.

No, nothing like the UTEC. The AEM has air temp, water temp and you can even factor in pucker fact if you want and trim the fuel

You will get that with almost every piggyback system. The AEM is superior to any other EMS on the market. It controls every aspect of the air/fuel and ignition system completely. If you keep you Karmen with the system then little tuning if any will be needed if you add a few mods. If you convert to speed density then a retune of VE and ignition will be required for certain throttle ranges.
Look out for some nasty EVO's comming from philly this summer.
