recirculate & vta
you can go either way, since can set the aem to take care of the idle, (wordy to explain)
stock ecu on some cars doesn't like it when you VTA. it needs to know where the excess pressure went. it get confused when it expects it to be there then its not.

I have an AEM EMS on my car and I have the hks ssqv and the jdm mr. The jdm mr I have it recirculated, which works really good. The hks I had it vta and for some reason my car felt like it slowed down but it did idle better then the jdm one. With vta on ems I had no stalling, no probs at all.
you don't have to convert the car to speed density with the aem. So if you don't and if you keep the maf, def. stay recirc. If you do switch to speed density...it should only be personal prefrence from then.
