AEM EMS or Custom Dynoflash?

Im thinking of buying the AEM EMS but with my mods would it be worth it? Would it get me anything more than a custom dynoflash? I plan on adding an alky kit and injectors so I will be needing a tune, just not sure whether to get a custom dynoflash or the AEM since I do plan on eventually upgrading the turbo in a year or two. MODs in sig.

I can afford it but since the AEM is 1500 from AMS then 600 for tune plus the wideband and other small items, its considerably more than a custom dynoflash. Would I see power gains with the AEM over the dynoflash? or better driveability?

I know that but I dont have Al's race car. I have my mods and no upgraded turbo. Plus any money I dont spend now on the EMS I can spend on something else.

But you are well on your way, switching to map can get you 30 extra whp.

Exactly. RACE CAR. 700whp track prepped race car.

With your mods, a custom dynoflash would be great. Negligible gains would be seen with the AEM, however you would have much more room with tuning but of course that depends upon your knowlegde...

I know its a weak comparison but there is a guy on here with all my mods + EMS and he made 351awhp, I made 346awhp at the same boost.

Even David Buschur said it, Al's tunes are so good that he doesnt think the AEM is worth it unless your really putting down some power where the stock MAF might become a restriction.

I'd agree, but if you can afford either, why not go for the big dog.

Al can do wonders for your car with a simple flash. Yeah sure get the AEM for future routes if you want to do a turbo swap...but for the money...the flash is awesome and you will DEFINATELY love every second of it.

I'd say if money was no object...go the AEM...

If you want to save a little...and get probably 90% the performance you would with the AEM...go with AL's flash and use the money to mod the car more!!! Prior to doing the flash of course!

Well Id say go for the AEM if you have the cash if you can tune it yourself, but it sounds like he is going to have to have someone else tune it, which in itself costs as much as an entire custom reflash! To boot, he wont see any noticeable gains for that extra $1500.

Money is an object, thats why I even asked the question. I know the EMS is better but with my mods how much better and it seems for the respones so far at my level it would be more worth my money to get a custom flash then spend the rest of the money on a BOV/Upper IC pipe/Small Battery and still have money left over. Also, I would be having AMS tune the car since Im not at all familiar with the AEM.

I definitely think custom flash is the way to go for you, esp if youre on a budget. I also reccomend the upper ic pipe/mini battery setup. I have it, it looks great and it really frees up a lot of room in the engine bay. No gains from it really but its much easier to work on the car (eg. boost tests, tightening clamps, etc).

I wouldn't bother with either, and just get an SAFC at your mod level.

I don't like that everyone jumps on the safc bandwagon. yes they are good tool for fine tuning, but you can't maximize your performance without timing adjustment.

I guess you missed that whole part of how theres massive gains in the midrange/ torque from the flash over the AFC at ANY mod level, esp his.

Go to Buschur's site and check out flash vs afc tuning on his staged upgrades. Massive torque gains with the flash over the AFC.
