Check Engine Light

Ever since I got my AEM tuned I get a "check engine" light once I go past ~6300 RPM until I shift. Most times I shift at 7k sometimes a little higher (only at the track), but I was wondering if this is normal. The car feels fine and pulls past 7k but the check engine light won't go off until I shift. I had the car tuned last April and it's been running great since then. It only came to my attention now because more of my friends have the AEM but they never experience a check engine light. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not to worry it's your shift light.

Sounds like the "shift light" mode is set for 6300 rpm. It should ber nothing to worry about because all the CEL is good for is a shift light. It's completely disabled with the AEM EMS.. Or at least that was the case with my old EVO VIII

yeah its a cool feature. i like to configure it if it over boosts slightly (of course you have the boost cut) but for instance...say if you want to know if it spikes or something to 20 psi, but your boost cut isnt until 23. you trigger the check engine light to come on at 20 psi, it will usually draw your attention faster than your boost gauge, especially since you are probably paying more attention to your RPMs then boost...

Is it possible to control a different light in the dash to use as the shift light? I ask because I'm using the Autometer steering column pod for my boost guage and from my sitting position it completely blocks my view of the CEL. I was thinking about the green intercooler sprayer light for example on the far right of the dash above the "Lancer" logo.

Yes you can use that light, its set up under Fuel 10. Just make sure that you set its parameters to what you want so as to satisfy the triggering of the light!
