Launch Control Question

I went to the track the other day, and amongst other problems, I had what felt like wheelhop. After more thinking I believe what was happening is the launch control rev limiter was being hit even though I was moving.

On my datalog it shows the speed going from 0 to 14 mph instantly. I think I might have been spinning the tires before that and bouncing off the launch limiter (Which is set at 7 mph).

Do most people use a clutch switch to trigger the launch control or use the VSS option?

I think most people use the clutch switch. I setup the vss just cause it takes seconds, and there is no wiring involved. When i get some free time i will be wiring up the switch. Nate at DS said it really helps alot. Plus the no lift to shift thing will prolly help alot. No more getting locked out of gears. Maybe?

You could lower the vss to 2 or 3 and give that a whirl as well.

its hard to say what it is doing without seeing a datalog

you can try lowering the VSS speed, but if its already going to 14. and its only set to 7, it doesnt seem like that is the issue

Yeah the log shows 0--------14, 15, 17, etc, etc....

I dont think lowering it would help. I suppose I should switch it over to a clutch wire. Once I get the car going again I will do it both ways and see how if it fixes it.

you should be able to implement it correctly using VSS. it should not need the clutch switch.

Yes I understand that... that is how I have it now.

I am just trying to figure out if it is disengaging the launch control fast enough. Somehow my car has wheelhop (Virtually impossible). I was trying to figure out if it was my clutch or the launch control. I will know once I get the new clutch in again.

I looked at my logs from GLD. I didn't have wheelhop at all and one of my logs where VSS was set at 11mph went from 0mph - 12mph and the other where I lowered VSS to 5mph went from 0mph - 14mph. Then at Rock Falls with VSS still at 5mph, I had wheelhop and logs show 0mph - 12mph. There doesn't seem to be a correlation.

Well at least I know it isnt the launch control causing it then

I guess I need more boost to spin em harder or less boost to spin em less. Very strange considering the power and cage and everything but I guess with stock bushings, stock suspension, and no motor mounts what should I expect
