Have you posted on AEMPower.com? They have a specific electronics form that they will probably respond much faster on.

Yeah, every time I have contacted them on the phone, they have been very helpful.

But just as speculation, if the wiring harnesses are identical, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be plug and play affair. I am unsure of how the ACD or AYC would work, though I don't even know if they had any of that in the 6.5.

The only thing I have heard of being different is the fuel pump setup but I don't know this of being a fact or not just might be somthing you pay special attention too. I found this out when recieving a PowerFC for an evo7 it had some differences as well and could not be ran on an evo8, I would think similar issues would apply.

Sometimes changing to a different cable and or laptop will solve the problem. Another issue could be a non matching software versions. I had a lot of problems similar to that with my Nissan SR20det EMS.

If the cam sesnsor isn't reading, check the ECU pinout diagram on the Evo 8 and make sure the sensor is on the same 2 pins. If it is, then either the polarity is reversed or it may work differently on the 6.5 and you may need to get a sensor from an 8.
