Fellow Evo owner needs help
Hey guys, I just installed my ems last night, but I'm having problems setting up the correct map, I have the 1313 model, I went by the directions that they told me to go by, but I can't seem to find the base map for the evo8, also If i was to use someone else's map for my GT35R setup, would I still need to use a timing gun, since it's the first time my car starts on the ems? Or can I just slap someone's gt35r map, and drive it untill I get tuned at ams next month, sorry for the newbie questions, I'm just new to this ems stuff, and I wouldn't want to mess anything up with my motor, thanks guys.
As far as using someone else's tune, if it starts and more or less idles, it should be good enough to get you to you tuner as long as your not tempted to get on the accelerator. Be aware that the fan is controlled by the EMS, so have an eye on the temerature gauge.
I have been driving around with my Dynoflased Ecu while slowly messing with the AEM EMS, I tried driving it the other day and I idle like stock with my 280s which is amazing, but stomp an the gas and it misfires everywhere due to a 9.2 AFR under boost. I really do not understand how to tune the fuel maps with duty cycles, all I know is AFRs. Luckly Al from Dynoflash will be road tuning the AEM next month.

smart
you should start saving for a new block now if that's how you are going to treat it all the time.

Second, as long as you stay out of boost, running someone else's similarly setup 35r map should be ok as long as you absolutely baby the car. The most important thing will be to get a map from someone who also has the same injectors since AEM's injector scaling is crappy.
Yes, you will need a timing light no matter what to set it up correctly, but that can also wait until you get to AMS if you are going to baby it.
I found that timing was ***** on at idle and cranking. I have not verified it at high rpm yet to check pickup delay, but if I'm thinking correctly that will delay timing, which is in the safer direction. With 2g/EVO style crank sensor there should be no way the timing is off. With the 1g style (and I'm sure other cars as well) it's absolutely necessary.
The included base map was good enough to get it to start and idle, but I couldn't exactly just drive around on it. After messing around with it for some time I decided to just redo the whole cal file from the ground up, which worked extremely well. I'm getting 21 mpg despite constant WOT pulls to tune, and last night I matched my pump gas best with DSMlink on my first night out with the EMS. I guess my point is that with a solid understanding of this stuff you can get the EMS to work well in a short amount of time, but if you are not going to put in the time or do not have the knowledge, don't install it until you are ready to get it tuned.

Can anyone guide me step by step, because the directions I'm reading off the paper I don't really understand them as good, I can't figure out which file to load under the mitsubishi/dsm folder, I have 3.5 bar and ait sensor installed also, I'm running speed denisty.
