Question about AFRs

I just got my AEM EMS installed last weekend and the car runs.

But it's running SUPER rich, I barely got 150 miles out of a full tank of gas.

Can someone show me how to lean it out?

Wow. Why do I get a sense that you are playing with a grenade and not sure what to do after you pulled the pin.
If you can post your calibration file and a log of your AFR then we can start with that.

If you can't understand the manual you have zero chance of tuning it yourself and keeping your engine in one piece. Read the manual a dozen times, if you don't get it then let a professional handle it. I'm not trying to be a jerk, that's just the way it is. It's not something that can be explained in a few posts over the internet, it takes years of practice and applied knowledge to be able to accurately and safely tune an engine.

That's why I'm asking here, I just want to get it to stock mileage as I'm getting tuned on Sunday.

I've read the manual, obviously that's the first place I started but a lot of their explanations aren't simple enough.

At this point since it's already almost Sunday, it's a moot point anyway.

The AEM forums and EvoM haven't been of any help since I get no replies or replies like this.

Evo-NY is the only place I've gotten help.

I'm not asking for a perfect tune, 14.7 AFR was all I wanted.

14.7 AFR at WOT will go BOOM :}
At this time I think you would be best served waiting a bit for someone more knowledgable to tune it.

I know what you're asking, and it's almost impossible to help you. If you don't understand what you're doing then you are going to damage your engine. If you want to learn, buy some books, take some classes, and do a LOT of reading on all of the forums you can find that pertain to engine management.

Having fooled with the AEM for over two years I hate this answer! You are right, it is in the manual, it is hard to understand, and it is not a simple answer. That said, one can help by giving suggestions, one of which in this cas probably should have included parking the car until it was tuned. I've had my cars tuned by "professionals" and I can assure you that no two do it the same. I've also had my car "blown - up" by said professionals. This said, get it tuned, read the manual and look at the MAP the tuner gave you. Look for posts by BLKMGK (sp) on AEM forums. When he is not being a smartass he'll teach you a lot.

1st off, do you have a afr sensor plugged in & connected into your aem ecu?

what are your mods? are you running a in map or maf?

I am sure people will help, but we need more background info to do so.

i have a 91 octane map for stock injectors using my map sensor for load if your interested.

I get 220 mpg w/100% city / 320 mpg @ 100 hwy.

my wife gets ~120 tank city driving...your mileage may vary!

I wouldnt reccomend even starting a EMS car without having it pre-tuned and then tuned very soon after.

LOL ... pre-tuned? I didn't know Miss Cleo was doing psychic AEM tuning now.

How exactly do you tune an AEM EMS without even starting the car?

Unfortunately, BLKMGK does not seem to have posted for at least a year and his website is down. He has disappeared. :/
