AEM EMS good for a daily driven evo?

Hey, I don't know much about AEM EMS at all so I just wanted to check if it will effect my daily driving at all? A/C and heat will still work? Also is there any downside at all to buying a used aem ems? Any info is much appreciated.

I use mine for daily driving. Everything still works fine.

About the only problem I have is the car stalling out on me sometimes. I've been in some hairy conditions when this has happened.

i use mine for DD and i have no problems with it. The one thing you want to do is find a reputable tuner to give you the best initial tune for it. If you dont like a setting, the AEM gives the ability to tune that out and customize it to you.

works great after starting the car. often on cold starts it stalls, which is very annoying. However if you can tune it bit by bit you can get it to get through warmup better. Otherwise its fine.

The AEM will be fine for a DD if you have a proper tuner tune the vehicle. Your AC and heat will still work fine. A used EMS might not have the warranty that a new AEM will have, if you do buy one be sure to get the original invoice of the purchase if possible in case of any warranty issues.

Living in Chicago you should be able to get your car tuned easily. AMS is near, but also you could give a call to Larry at Sound Performance. He is one of 6 people to pass the AEM Master tuner class, so he has a wealth of knowledge on the AEM.

I bpoght one used with no problems, I paid $1000 with IAT,MAP,etc. Why pay $1700 NIB, when you can pay almost half that used. I've bought a lot of good used stuff for 50% off of new price.

I use my evo as a DD @ 100% city driving

most everything can be tuned to get your desired results

my idle control, w & W/O a/c is better than my oem ecu by far

my complaint is the time it takes to fire/start-up from when i turn the key

oem = 1 revolution average, 2 max, aem = 1-6 revolutions, 2-4 average.

Yah if tuned right a EVO can feel just like stock with EMS, the only thing you gotta worry about is emmisions.

I dont think the AEM will ever be better than a stock ecu. You can make more power yes but better.....???? I dont think that the same resources were used as far as R&D is concerned with the OEM ecu and the AEM. Like everyone is saying, its all about who tunes it.

I am getting mine installed on Wed. I'll let you know how it drives after.

I had one on my 93 talon and it ran perfectly fine as a DD. As stated before, the time it takes to sync up and start can be annoying sometimes.

I bought mine used, and it was probably the best investment I have made on my Evo. The driveability is better than stock with revolvers, which are pretty gnarly cams. I wish I bought the EMS right when I started modding my car. The biggest thing is to make sure you find a good tuner who knows the AEM EMS. I have never had my car come even close to stalling, or anything like that. Good Luck.

Yeah I was wondering as well. Just worried about be stranded in the middle of no where because of the AEM ems. Do you have to retune the aem for changing weather conditions such as hot, cold, high humidity...etc??? Or is one excellent tune good enough for the life of the car???

I think you have to have it tuned for the different climate conditions. I am contemplating on doing this but I have dramatic temperture changes throughout the year.
