AEM Tune for IX??
Here’s just an update about the EVO IX AEM box and tuning it. Today I made the five mile hike from Maine to New Jersey to meet up with Sean Ivey of iveytune.com. By 11:00 the car was on the dyno and Sean started working his magic. In about 3.5hrs he was able to completely tune every aspect of the EMS. He was nice enough to show me a few things that he was doing and explained the steps that he was taking to make the car a daily driver. Over all impressions is that it is a great EMS and well worth the $$ vs. an ECUFlash IMO. The car starts up nice, idles like stock, and pulls harder than ever to the new redline. Sean worked at the MIVEC and gained a fair amount of power from it. I would definitely recommend Sean, A+ work. In the end a moderate tune of 22psi on 93oct giving 400awhp

It seems like the AEM works pretty good for the Evo 9. We just received a couple at my shop... maybe I should try one out. I have had nothing but good experiences with my supra's AEM, and the AEM software is definately much easier to use than the EcuFlash in my opinion.
Here is a testament to the capabilities of the AEM EMS on a couple Evo IX
669 AWHP on stock block
35lbs on a GT35r and 120 shot of NOS
591 AWHP
35lbs NO NOS

Looked at the link.
Definetely pushing it on the stock engine. The biggest problem with the stock shortblock though is simply the RPM. Not so much the HP. Looking at the dyno sheet I am assuming the dyno pull was done in 3rd gear and it was kept under 8,000 rpm, so it will stay together if the tune is on.
Then you have the Dynojet factor
Great numbers though.

okay guys what would th benefit of adding a AEM EMS to a stock turbo 9 be over getting a ecu flash. I want to max out the stock 9 turbo but i rather get an ems now and be done wtih it so when i upgrade to a gt35r ill already have the proper ems. But beside that will a AEM EMS make more power on a stock 9 turbo or will it make the same power as a ecu flash.
Got a chance to tune an AEM EMS on an EVO IX Saturday. No problems with the AEM EMS itself. Made 498whp with 125* - 135* F intake temps (GM sensor couple inches before throttle body). Ran out of fuel pump. Retune with an additional inline soon
AEM EMS on stock IX...
Quick question.(or two)..I noticed my IX looks to be quite rich on fuel. Can I buy an AEM EMS and install and get a better FR to fix and improve performance as well? I am guessing an intake will help to lean it out. (clue on richness is the black crap on my rear bumper all the time) Stock tunes on mitsu.s always that rich???
Expertise as mechaninc is a little better than a backyard bolt on guy...but am IT software guy too.
