Send me your calibration with details on the injectors, intake manifold, cams, map sensor, etc. Will see what I can help you with from here

Can't believe people are still having this problem..

on my last evo it would take about 5-6 seconds to start and I had to touch the gas pedal as well...
5-6secs is a long a$$ time imo..

I may actually leave the AEM this time and go Autronic

I promise you its the tune that is your problem, there is alot of adjustments to be made to provide the best startup. Not just the normal trim tables but park adjustments and correction factors and your base tune must be stable also since it acts as the primary base fueling varible. If anything is changed you must factor in changes for all other tables otherwise it will then again be incorrect.

I work with autronic.. It's just as bad with cold starts.

I had this problem with several tuners as well until I found someone who really knew what they were doing.

Now the car starts the same in 20degree weather as it does in 80degree weather.

The tuner that got me figured out was Brad Brooks.

Also, to get rid of the sync time that causes slow starts with the AEM, look here:

Thats great and all for DSM but It doesn't look like it works for an EVO yet. You can limit the crank time by spending time tuning the car better and getting rid of sync timing. It will never start like a stock ECU.

wow...wish mine started as good in the cold....10 degree weather ftl! Takes two ten second cranks to start when cold....and that is with tinkering with the crank injector time table, start decay table and rpm vs start offset.

This gentleman was kind enough to look at my maps, but unfortunately when the changes were made to improve starting, the rest of my maps were changed and the car was running lean at wot. This concerend me so I just put the maps back the way they were and left them.

I actually went back and soldered all of my wires for my AIT sensor and the MAP sensor because they were only connected with those crimp connectors, and it actually seems to start faster. Maybe its just the placebo effect. Anyways, I guess 3-4 cranks isn't all that bad. I've come to realize that an EMS is never going to start like a stock ECM.

a lot of people complain about the crank time on the EMS. One thing you need to be sure and do is wait for the fuel pump to finish priming before you crank the car. Also, as stated many times, its not gonna start like a stock ecu.

My car it seems random, sometimes it will hit after 1 crank, sometimes it takes 6.

This is exactly what mine does. Sometimes like stock, others not so much, and no rhyme or reason why.
