I will be getting my 3rd evo in 3 years. AEM EMS on all 3. One was tuned with Buschur, one with AMS and the 3rd has been tuned by Sean Ivey. All top notch tuners. Go to the shop with proven results, pay the money for a professional tune (worth every penny) and never have to touch the ems again. Speed density is even better if you plan on high hp. But starting the car can and does suck sometimes.

I have been running it since the first year they came out in my 94 supra. My swapped 98 GS also has one(which is my DD) and I have had no problems with teh ECU in either car. I know a few people who have said they got bad units and they did not work, or stopped working and what not..but I have had nothing but good things to say about the two I have used...I say go for it as long as you have someone who knows what they are doing tune it for yah!

AEM for every day ? I am tuning cars for some years, and i know what to do. Every car i made has excelent response, good drivebily and everytime improoved MPG too. Some cars have more than 700BHP, and are still streetable. But the thing about starting car with AEM EMS makes me crazy. The unit will not start inject and fire until you got the "SYNC" signal on. And this fu*ing thing can go on in 1/10sec but mostly in 3-5seconds on my EVO IX. I had tested all the "tweaks" but nothing had improoved this issue. I am so frustrated from this long starting period! Now considering to change it back t ostock ecu or to the Pectel.

"We specialize in custom trigger discs for cam and crank angle sensors. They are designed to replace the OEM discs in applications in which the OEM disc provides an insufficient number of cam or crank "teeth" (in some cases, too many).

The discs listed below are for Mitsubishi applications. Tired of excessive cranking with your AEM EMS-equipped Mitsubishi? Here is the solution. These discs are a vast improvement over the OEM design.

Increases ignition accuracy
Reduces ignition drift during engine acceleration
Improves sync time resulting in near-instantaneous engine starting!
"

Ok, lets try it on my evo.

OOOOOOOHH no!

-This disc CANNOT be used if your engine still has balance shafts installed. The disc is flat, not stamped like the factory disc, and as such does not provide the balance shaft belt with aligning support like the factory disc does.
-Please note: installation of this disc requires removing the timing belt.
-A detailed instruction manual (PDF) will be furnished via email at the time of purchase.
-Currently out of stock. Contact us for availability.

My 03' has had one of the first 10 ems aem made going back to the end of 03'. I can't imagine running anything else. I get 350 per tank cruising while traveling cross country and over 500whp range with variety of fuels. It is an awesome tool and its usability i limited only by your tuner.

But still regardless of who is tuning the best thing you can do is learn it yourself because it takes time to have things 100% if you want to accomplish this. I don't recommend anyone purchasing one otherwise.
Completely agree. You have to learn to run, and control the AMS EMS entirely by yourself in order to maximize its streetability.

I have run the AEM EMS for nearly five years in my TT Supra. I needed to replace it once, when I hit a gaint man hole, and it shorted. The newer unit I have installed, works excellent.
