Idle issues

So recently I purchased Bill's (Fookster) 2004 WW Evo RS. It has been running amazingly the past 2 weeks but I have noticed a new issue. It is tuned on the AEM EMS and was road tuned up in MN. Jordan over at MAP tuned it.

The past 3-4 days I have been having an odd issue; when the car idles it will rev up to 2,000 and stay there until I tap the gas and then it goes back to 1,200-1,500 and won't do it again for quite some time. I can't really tell what is causing it and I had a local tuner look at it, he said everything was fine in the map. Any ideas?

Sounds like the IAC might be sticking. This is what happens to me sometimes during start and warm up.

Make sure there is some slack in the throttle cable. There has to be slack in the cable. Also Check the TPS and make sure its under 3%

That’s the FIA or fast idle air and is use for cold starts. That’s why we have coolant that flows to the throttle body. When the coolant gets warm it shut the valve. This valve allows for more air during start up until the car gets warm. I don't that the IAC is sticking.

Good info, for what its worth there are no coolant lines going to my TB, when I unplugged the IAC the idle issue stopped, I will check your info for my issue later.

I'm not sure if it was the 'Idle FB under RPM' or more slack in the cable but it is fixed now! Thanks, guys!
