Help AEM EMS no start

Ok I have a 1987 Porsche 911 with a 2003 Evo motor, The car has a AEM 1313 with a cut down Evo wiring harness. I was able to fire the car up with no issues, I sent it out to get exhaust and intercooler along with other items the car ran fine Then the other day it just would not start just crank over. The fuel pump kicks on and thats it, also unable to connect to laptop. serial ports are working fine just wont connect. below is a youtube link. Also I swapped the AEM into a friends evo and it just cranked no start.

Big thanks to jason siebels from aem ... for helping with this on going prob
The link above your post. You might as well sell it and find a open source tuner around you.

You have an Evo ECU right?

A tuner can tune with the stock Evo ECU. My car came with the AEM EMS. I just sold it and had the car tuned on the stock ECU

Try the above. Even with a cut down wiring harness. It should still be working.

Go to setup / sensors / cam crank sensor / advanced cam/crank

Under the options pull down ..

Where it says " Tooth time min " enter 500 ms

Where it says " Sync early " check the box

Any sensor that uses the 5v ref, disconnect. The serial comms use the same 5v ref, and if something is out of range it will not let you connect.

So disconnect, TPS, MAP, and any other 5v.

Try to connect.

Report back.

If it wouldn't start in his friends Evo would this work?
I would double check IAC, fuel trims and crank position sensor.

If you give me your email I can email you copies of my old maps. Maybe you could start from there.

Also on page 5 is the ems wiring diagram.

I think we need to verify that you in fact have an evo specific AEM (I am assuming the pin outs are different between aem units?) I think we could get by on the sensors you have wired for now, but it will not be perfect (no front o2 means full time open loop for starters) Fingers crossed it is evo specific, because then you could throw stock ecu in the car and we could go from there..

I looked over the stock ecu pinout, and is probably not as bad as I had first thought. I do see it triggering a cel for few missing items, most of which I can turn off.. But hey the cel won't even be wired to your dash so who cares if it doesn't effect drivability.

The reason to check all 5v items is because the Serial Comms run on the same 5v supply. If there is an error in the 5v then you will not be able to connect, I don't care how hard you try.

This is also a super simple thing to check. You just unhook everything and see if you can connect.

The actual chip inside the aem may have come loose from the socket. I had this problem on a s2000 and that ended up being the problem. It would prime the fuel pump but would not get a spark or allow me to connect the laptop. The car would just crank and crank. Reseated the chip and I was good to go.
