I wwant 2 know if E85 will corrode the stock evo fuel lines over time or if it wont. Ive heard it both ways that it will and it wont Help.....

 

NO it will not..

 

i know tht sum new cars are coated with stuff so the lines arnt eatin. y dnt the evos have 2 have new lines.

 

When you first switch to e85, you might want to consider changing the fuel filter after running 500 miles or so on E85 and maybe a couple times after that. The ethanol will actually clean any sludge and particles in your gas tank and fuel lines and can clog your fuel filter decreasing fuel economy and cause hard starts , hesitation on acceleration and bad idle.

I got a friend running and EvoX witha 50/50 mixture of e85 and 93 and it performs rather well

i heard about a hard start when cold, but i never heard of hesitation on acceleration and bad idle, why is that? i'm thinking about going the E85 route but trying to get all the info that i can

No it does not rot lines. What I have noticed in some high mile cars is that the E85 has a habit of working crap in the tank loose and clogging the filter. Even then I cant say it was the E85 and not the filter being nasty to start with.

 

Read the E85 thread, as Mike said, NO it will not eat your lines. I believe AMS or Buscher, I can't remember, took the entire EVO fuel system and soaked it in E85 for a month, with no effect.

 

Mine was soaked for 9 months and it is okay

 

ok i was reading that about the fuel filter thing in another thread. i drive less than 5k a year. i'll just change my fuel filter twice a year. is there a better fuel fllter than the factory?

 

There is no fuel filter on the Evo - just a sock on the inlet to keep out the big chunks.

 

i learn something new everyday. i'm use to my 2g gsx. i wonder why they dont have a fuel filter on it?
