i think they have a rule that with stuff like cars you cant sell until after youve had it here for a certain amount of time. its to stop people from just bringing over rare cars(anything other than a hyundai, kia, or samsung) and selling them off. because anything not korean is taxed out the a$$ here. they have an office set up to follow all of the transactions of foreign goods on base. but im not positive what the rules are about selling your car.
just to give you an idea of how much stuff is taxed, i got my gf a small bottle of chanel no5 for her bday. on post it was $64. out on the korean market it was about 160.
i know it is taxed out the *** but there is a lot of people that will buy it. the car has to be in the country for 2 yrs before it can be sold. plus on top of the taxes there is a giant processing fee, like $2k plus. there is still people that will buy them and you still put a chunk of change in your pocket. i was going to sell my talon over there but I was 2 months short on the 2 yr thing. the bluebook for my talon was like $2500 but I was getting offers for $8k and they were going to take care of all the fees.
thats true. i guess if they are willing to pay for all the stuff and you still walk away with a good chunk of change you can get ready to buy the X. ill ask a friend of mine how much he got for his srt 4 that was modded out. but im not sure if he sold to another american on base or if he sold to a korean. ill try find out and let you know. ill also see if i can find out how much an evo goes for here out of a korean car dealership.
ill have to drive by the transportation place and see if it's here. they all come to yongsan right? when mine arrived i was on a field exercise and came back to pick up some fuel and the transportation office is right by the fuel point so i saw it but couldnt get it for a while. it was a crappy week and a half
