Question for the Taiwan crew

I just returned from a trip to Taipei and I saw very few cars with decent parts on them. Is it illegal to mod a car in Taiwan? Most of the cars I saw had dorky cosmetic tunes. The NA Virage with EVO IV and V parts was funny as hell!

I don't think its that bad on cars outside of inspection, but I got a ticket once for having a carbon slip-on exhaust on my bike when I was there. It was during a bike meet and we were making a lot of noise so I think that set off the wrong cops. I never got questioned about mods at check points or anything besides that though.

If you didn't see any hot cars, you weren't in the right places at the right times. You are right about regular cars having cosmetic parts on them. There's lots of accessorizing there with average vehicles. The real cars are there but they ride in clubs and run up the mountains and all. There are track events and they'll cruise together. I haven't been back for a while, but if you know where to find them, you'll find yourself impressed. I can't wait to go back.

dude you need to read what he have posted. He asking about moding. He didn't say about Exotic cars. Also on another notes most Aftermarket parts are made in Taiwan cause it's cheap to have them made. Look at ebay for a example

There are tons of reasons why you saw so many crappy "EVO" in Taiwan, it takes long time to explain. But if you go to like Kaoshung or Pingtung city, there are lots of Geniune JDM EVO there (but illegal).

YES! Modifying in Taiwan is illegal except suspension, body kit, not sure about cat-back tho.
