June '04 sales of Evos in the Philippines
I clipped the article to the relevant topic at hand. To read the whole story go here.
MMPC also reported that its passenger car sales, primarily composed of the new 2004 Lancer, improved by 24 percent compared to sales figures in May. Mitsubishi sold a total of 143 units of passenger cars, composed of 137 Lancers, five Galants and one Lancer Evolution model. The sales performance in June garnered Mitsubishi a 5.3 percent market share which puts them in fourth position, next to General Motors (5.8 percent market share), Honda (21 percent market share) and Toyota (49.5 percent market share).
I'm honestly surprised that they were even able to sell 1 Evo at the P2.6M/$46,430 price point they're pushing for. I've seen the Blue Evo often featured in C! Magazine and a Silver Evo in the Santa Rosa Mitsubishi Showroom. I wonder which one was sold.
Oh yeah I noticed this Mitsubishi Owner's Gallery section on the MMPC website.

Where did you buy your evo? And where's the best place to buy a grey market evo 8 at a cheaper price?
Thanks

Rich kids.
I feel sorry for fast cars like the Evo driven in RP because:
1) too much traffic
2) too many bad roads
The only escape is to go on a provincial trip.
EDIT: Removed my silly computation. Php2.6M ~ $47K.

If bought in the US the VIII sans the wing would come out as PHP1,681,443.927 . I found out that the person who bought the blue Evo mentioned in the report is an Ayala executive.

Most guys who own evo's tend to drive there cars at night with little traffic. They have 2 tracks to choose from..subic or batangas race track to let their cars loose and get to know their cars abit more.
It's true about the traffic and bad roads...but if you know where to go then it shouldn't be too hard finding spots.

I was just told by the salesperson that the evo 8 here has the AYC and ACD but with the 5-speed. It is the RS but not a US spec. The only place that i found selling an evo 8 rs with 5-speed/ayc/acd is in Germany. Could this really be a euro-spec and not a US spec car? I'll be checking the car out next week to confirm this.

For everyone's info, Mitsubishi here only sold one because of the arrival of cheaper dealers of the Evos. Like this shop named "AutoTrend" is selling a Japan Evo 8 MR for around 2.3m pesos. They even have Evo 8 RS that are LHD models and even Pajero Evolutions. Mitsubishi PHils sold the most number of Evos witht he Evo 5. Even up to now, some black market dealers are still bringing in the 5 and 6. Iv noticed lotsa Evo 8s in our roads, but im pretty sure they were bought from those other dealerships.
If ya'll wanna see how much Filipinos love Evos and other exotic cars, pls visit www.pbase.com/jcolayco and click on "my evo"
