I run a 4wd 1800 GSR (CM5A). Just got ALL the parts to convert to Tommi Makinen Edition Evo 6. Plus a Jap Spec Evo 7 engine (with E6 GSR box). Running 1800 GSR rear diff with Torsen LSD. Adding Evo 6 RS diffs front and rear when I find them. Expensive? HELL YES!... but still cheaper than waiting forever for one to buy... and definately cheaper, with far better handling than Evo 7 or 8 GSRs.

Anyhow this is either the third or forth converted GSR over here. All the others are very competitive. Yup it will be a lot of work, but worth it in the long run for me.

If using an Evo engine in FWD shell, I STRONGLY suggest using an RS front diff unit WITH LSD to reduce torque steer.

Just my 2 cents.

ive done the conversion to a cc lancer coupe and used the 4g15 gearbox but machined the flywheel and ran a custom race spec. cordia clutch, i have also seen sigma flywheels and H/D clutches used as well. Try this website it may help. www.vysor.com/SummitGTX/lancerproject_1.htm

i know that the evo5 engine is mounted on the opposite side but the info might help anyways.

Why dont you import the drive train from a 4WD mirage from Japan....Thats what Im doing!! Bolts straight in....then you can look at going 4wd turbo. Jap mirages come in 4wd with the 4g15 dohc motor.
