All Wheel Drive Lancer??

hi

i am looking at purchasing a 2001-2004 Mitsubishi Lancer. I like them but i dont like the Front-Wheel-Drive. i was wondering if it was possible to convert this FWD into an AWD using Galant VR4 - Evo8 drivetrain components. Money is no object at the moment as i am pricing. if you have any helpful comments or websites or names of companies who could do this please email me or reply

thanx

Macca

As noted on that website, Race Torque did the drive line conversion. They do top notch work and know Evos like no one else. Worth giving them a call as they can source parts too.

Also I think Crockenberg Motors has done a few coversions in him time as well.

Both are Ralliart dealers and mechanics.

the xspeed car was so expensive cos pratically everything from the stock lancer was replaced with evo parts except the shell! quite a feat dont you reckon??
i saw the red lancer at the auto salon 2003 and its featured in a speed magazine or whassit hot4s?
what a sweet ride!
wish i had money to do that kind of thing lol

You like the looks of the lancer so much better than the Evo that you will spend tens of thousands just to put an Evo drivetrain and engine into the lancer body and frame. Amazing. I recommend buying an Evo and switching body panels to look like the lancer. Much cheaper.

oh no dont get me wrong i aint saying that the lancer looks better then the evo
the only reason why im amazed with that lancer is the amount of technical work put in to it
i mean come on your pratically building a hybrid evo from scratch
plus if you have money why not?? it makes your ride unique (thumbs up)

You can do it to most lancers. I know that ce and cc are quite an average in difficulity to do nothing hard about it you just got to take your time when doing the conversion. most people when doing the conversion change the rear floor an if you want more info on the cc coupe awd conversion then this site is great www.evocoupe.net the ce is achived by a evo4 to evo6 or a imported awd mirage floorpan and running gear.

Maybe you can e-mail this guy or something, heres what he did to his 91 lancer in the US.
Swapped 1.5L with a 4g63 Turbo
Coverted to manual from automatic
Installe AWD drivetrain

ALL IN HIS OWN BACKYARD! GREAT STEP BY STEP PICS TOO! HOPE THIS HELPS.

The site is laid out wierd but its all there:

Hey all,

That Lancer you are all talking about has had some major work done to it since it was in Hot4s.

It now has NOS, a sequential gearbox like in a WRC car, more engine work, and more ponies than i think it can handle....but thats just me.

It sounds like a beast, really lumpy idle and you just 'know' something is lurking beneath its skin...

Speedworks do all the work on it atm. As mentioned Race Torque did the conversion, and XSpeed did the first lot of mods.

You claimed that money was no object at this point in time. If thats the case why not buy a real EVO. You can get an 6.5 TME for like $45000 atm, there was one for sale last weekend (17th oct). EVO V are a little harder to come past, there is an EVO IV for around the $35000 over east, as well as a brace of I's,II"s adn III"s, both in WA and interstate for the high $20 000's.

good luck

Mimmo
