Unhappy Please Help! Need help with busted bisshi

Hey all,

Please, I really need help for anyone who knows their way around 4G15's in a CA. Im getting really desperate.

Im having massive dramas with my missus's 90 CA lancer. Its got the 4G15 donk and since the day we got this thing, its been a mission to get parts for. Every time we order parts, they are the wrong type. It seems that it was the same motor that is in the cult.

Recently, a problem developed with this god-aweful noise that would happen when the motor first started. The noise is so loud that it sends shivers down my spine. It sounded like somthing plastic getting caught in the timing belt, that would eventually go away after it warmed up. I checked most things on the car for the source of the noise until I got my finger caught in the fan belt taking the end off my right index finger. I now have a deformed finger nail, although that isnt where where the pain ends.

Ok, my main problem with the car is when she bought it, it had the wrong timing belt installed. Aparrently it was supposed to have the Gates t-128 belt. Instead it had some belt that was 22mm wide whereas the bottom drive sproket is only 19mm wide. Hence it chewed out the belt in less than 1000km.

I spoke to the local dealership and they said it had the wrong sproket installed so $85.00 plus another $45.00 for another incorrect belt and now no improvment on the sound. (dumb asses) To add insult to injury, the fan belt jumped over a knotch because the bottom sproket offset the harmonic balancer out by a couple of mm.

I went to the wreckers and got a t-128 belt and lower sprocket, which got rid of one of the noises but that loud buzzing noise that makes me want to $#!t my dacks is still there.

The noise is not comming from the timing belt assembly, however is comming from somwhere below the bottom sprocket, maybee even in the sump. Im thinking maybee oil pump but I have no idea where it is located in the motor. (An extra hint is when it starts cold, it takes about 3 seconds for the noise to start - oil pressure building up or somthing.)

What could possibly be causing this noise??? Please, if you have any suggestions, please, please, please help me out and let me know what could be causing this noise.

Please.....

Sticky (aka coupefan).
