Mirage Modifications in Brisbane
Hey guys, just a couple of quick questions.
I own a 2003 Mirage and am thinking about doing a couple of things to it such as unichip, extractors and fuel pressure regulator to complement the 2" catback system on it at the moment.
Just wondering if anyone else has performed similar mods to the 4G15 engine and what results they achieved?
Also, can anyone reccomend any good workshops in the greater brisbane area that have some good knowledge in Mitsubishi.
Any advice would be tops.
Cheers.

Modified mine as follows:
4G15 DOHC head conversion.
RPW 4-1 headers
2" cat back, with remus tip
Fuel pressure regulator
Custom grounding kit
The FPR and extractors are pretty easy to do (i.e. bolt on's). The Unichip you'll need to find a workshop that tunes these (check the unichip site).
Not sure about anyone in Brisbane, check with Kaneda, he's got the supercharged 4g15..

MirageHatchVRX,
When you say that you converted to the Double overhead cam, was this done by swapping the entire SOHC engine for the DOHC, or is there a more economically viable way of doing this so as only the head is converted?
Also, where is the closest stockest RPW parts because i am particularly interested in their 4-1 extractors, as you have, because they seem to be conclusively regarded as the best around for this engine.
Have you had your car dynoed?

I did up a little 1500 lancer a couple of years ago, i suggest stick a hi flo cat if your going to do the exhaust, its probably the most retricting part of the system, you will get the note without it, but dont expect much more performance.

A 2003 mirage should have a good cat already no real need to change.
RPW can supply just the DOHC head and everything you need - I was one of the first people (if not the first) to get one from David and I think its a modification well worth doing esp in a 900kg mirage!

i beg to differ, regardless how good factory cat is, an aftermarket one would be better, and is certanly not a waste of money. As for mods, a friend of mine in brisbane had a mirage with extractors with bigger cat and full exhaust and a filter with tuned length piping of the throttle body, these were pretty good mods unleashed a few extra kw's. exotic exhaust in brisbane (jindalee) did the exhaust, unsure of final price though. I would suggest a cam, full exhaust from extractors back, filter etc.. like you have mentioned and try unichip for a ecu chip to remap fuel etc..
hope it helps
I have also been considering doing the DOHC conversion. I've been calling a few places in Brissie and no-one has even heard of a 4G15 DOHC.
However, the guys at slacks creek told me they could sell me a mivec front cut, 70 000 k's for 2 Grand.
I thought that sounded pretty good, but wasn't sure what other costs would be involved in having it fitted.
