Hey guys,

Has anyone had any experience with exhausts for the 2 litre Lancer? I'm going to be upgrading mine soon and wanted to spend around $400 - $600 on the back end. Would preferable like performance over sound, but was wondering if anyone knew any models that perform better on this engine than others?

So far I know of the RMR, RRM (magnaflow), and Thermal.
In my opinion thermal would be the best to go with since it is a full exhuast upgrade, not just a cat back. All three have a beautifull low rich tone. BUT.... you will save money if you do a custom job- ie., universal high flow cats, 2.25'' piping, and a RRM, or RMR cat back. Oh! don't forget your header!

 

I would be looking at a 2.25" straight through with mandrel bends. But a cat back system will not increase power much if at all. What it will do is allow you to rev more freely. I would definitely be looking into some headers and going straight through from there, add a high flow cat in there, and it will be a nice system. The sound it makes will all come down to what kind of material the exhaust is made of (ie. stainless or mild steel) if the exhaust is heat treated (remember the hotter the air is inside the pipe the faster it will travel) and of cause the type of muffler you decide upon.
