yeah dude hurry up and save for some forced induction goodness, who needs a head unit when you have your turbo lol...

I'm kinda weird i like the old Cordia, looking for a turbo one to play around with.

i'm happy with my lancer as is though, could do with nicer seats and after a few minor mods such as CAI and exhaust system it would be really good.

lol its faster than a 1.8T A4 and its much cheaper hehe

^yeah thought about selling my system to bump up my cash position but i love my bass too much ... SUBWOOFER!!1!

yeah i was looking for a lil turbo car for cheap but really hard to find and i dont really have that much room for storage. My mate ages ago picked up a lil suzuki swift, it was about 1.5ltr turbo, 3 cylinders i think, but it has sweet dose, and yeah was good fo a thrash, so im keeping y eye out for something similar ... only cost him $500

Hey guys. Just got my 07 Mivec lancer and it's pretty sweet. Got a few questions for you guys though.

1. The run in for 1000km thing, please comment on what is the correct procedure for this etc

2. I want to put a SRI or possibly a CAI later on but I am worried that Mitsu will void my 5-10 warranty if I do, is this the case?

3. Powatone in fyshwick ACT are gonna do my exhaust for me on tuesday and I don't want one of those ricey cannon mufflers but I want it to sound nice and growly. Any suggestions?

Cheers.

1. First of all, if you want to break the engine there are generally two methods floating around the boards. I believe most members are:

- Breaking the car in at 1000kms, or after their first oil change.
- Breaking it in right away from the get-go.

I broke my car in after first oil-change.

2. Modifying the car in any way, shape or form will void your warranty. Generally if there is a problem with the car, and the modifcation is directly not the problem to the cause, you should be fine. However, try explaining that to Mitsubishi.

3. Depending on what you want to do. Stay N/A or go Turbo. Assuming you want N/A, many members choose from 2.25" or 2.5". For the exhaust, if you don't want something too loud, then make sure you have a decent resonator to lower the sound/pitch. A deep tone always sounds better than a rattling-rice noisy-annoying exhaust. Keep in mind, canon mufflers will always be loud.

If you want something nice and growly, go Lukey muffler or Magnaflow.

Thanks for the reply.

Has anyone tried the K&N stock replacement filter as well? I can get one for $100 and was wondering whether it was worth just trying it and the sports exhaust to start with.

Panel filters work fine but the pods work much better the reason for this is that the pod filter is totally exposed to air were as the panel filter is in an enclosed box so only gets air when it is forced into the box via the small duct at the front of the car...

There is now alot of info and products that are now available for this car and some of the cars around are showing some remarkable results with N.A products and my turboed one... as for warranty like MITVRX has said it comes down to how the part modified has hampered the stock part eg, stock suspenssion has blown out and they try blaming your new muffler for it?

As for mufflers that puts out a nice sound try a Lukey Ultra Flow very quiet but sounds very very good

have a look at my youtube links

Nice to hear that you got a ride dawg.

Run drive the damn thing to 1000 k There isnt a wrong way of doing it in my mind

As for the warranty bit, they can ONLY void it if the modification is the source of the problems u are having the car. However, dont quote me on this y'all

As the muffler, i got a supercat muffler with reverse flow and hence it sounds nice + slight growl but not as ricey as punk *** cannon. Dont add more resonator cos you are in actual fact putting in more restriction that it already has. I still don understand why mit ran 2 cat coverters on this ride though

Ride on

What do you think of yellow lens fog lights? i can't get any OEM copies off ebay with a white lens, so is it easy to buy white lenses and install them?

here is the link to the one i'm looking at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05...07918100QQrdZ1

Also do u need a torque rench to install a front strut? if better off paying someone to do it because i dun have one :S and i can't borrow one of any one :S Just thinking about it all before i get all my stuff.

Lastly i drop coins in my centre consol where the coin box/ash tray is, they fell though the lid when i threw them in... big mistake... is there any urgency to removing my center console bit? sounds like a noob question but will they fall into something important break something?

the white lense should be easy enough to install, but just check with vic laws about fog lights, coz i wanted to get some for mine, but heard that aftermarket ones were illegal here so i didnt, but i didnt bother actually checking, but i like to drive around with my parking lights on lol ...

Torque wrench isnt 100% nessacary, but if u plan to do alot of self mods everyone would suggest buying one, just a cheap one - seen them for $50-$100 (also seen one for $250!!!wtf) , i found/retrieved my grandfathers one that he passed down to me/my dad and its old but still works(ill get a pic, its wierd compared to new ones)

with the console, i dont think there is an urgency, just depends where they fell down, but the part where u are saying seems it would just fall on some wiring or even just pass through and fall down the side and cause no damage, maybe get them out quick if u hear them moving as they may get into your shifter... not that hard to remove ur console ~ 30min for first timer

good luck

Knob, do you buy yours from someone locally in Australia, or the US? And what did it cost you?
