Engine Swap/Turbo

Would you insurance be declined in you did an engine swap (4G63, 6A12 etc.) or just as good, turboed?

Dude think about it...

The only ones that would insure me with a turbo was Just Cars- $2200 unlimited mods. That was at 20yrs insured for 2.5 yrs without a claim.

Unfortunately yes. I recently sent an email to NRMA detailing the mods to my car and they sent a reply detailing that they do not underwrite any cars that are turbocharged or supercharged. This sounded a bit strange. They must lose a lot of customers with WRXs .

In the second last issue of SPEED (the issue before the current one) there is an article about insurance. Of interest is the fact that insuring the car in your parents name, actually ends up costing you money instead of saving it.

If you are looking for insurance, try Shannons. I've heard they are good.

yep ive heard that shannons are good as well for that sorta thing.. and im on the other side of the country

Did you try them with a MIVEC Engine? or any type of engine swap that doesn't exist with a turbo?
